I purchased this book for several young people who are now living on their own. So many important decisions have to be made and this is an outstanding guide. It covers many topics.

Each year I look for a graduation present that a young adult would actually use and never find one that is worth the money. This year is different. I have found a practical, easy to read book that I will be buying for graduation gifts. My two college students said that they wished they had this book when they first moved out. They are taking a copy back with them to school because of all the practical information in it. Great book, great gift.

Essential Survival Guide to Living on Your Own is fantastic! I have a niece who is headed off to college, leaving home for the first time and I cannot think of a better gift for her. It isn¿t that she does not have a good head on her shoulders. This book is simply loaded with information that only life teaches. It will save her money, many hours of work and prevent tons of headaches. A really nice feature of the book is the page in almost every chapter where I was able to add my own advice or where she can take notes for future reference. If you are not familiar with the book, it provides information on everyday living, like doing your laundry, finding an apartment, picking a roommate, buying a house, buying a car, finding a church, dealing with finances etc. Sounds kind of mundane, but with a teenager in my house those are things I am starting to realize I had to learn on my own when I left home, sometimes painfully. This book covers everything I went through and would say to my niece or son.

Why didn't someone think of this before? This book has everything you need to know, like how to balance a checkbook, do laundry, even how to pick out fruit at a grocery store. I bought one for my daughter, but I think I need to get a copy for myself.
