RC Sproul’s book, Essential Truths of the Christian Faith, is a balanced, concise and easy to read guide of 102 Christian doctrines. Each chapter is about 2 pages long and contain Scripture proofs at the end of the chapter with a brief point by point summary of the discussion. His analogies and illustrations help open up the Word and the truths he is discussing. These chapters are so short that they would make excellent daily readings with your daily Bible reading. The next doctrinal book to consider would be Louis Berkhof's Manual of Christian Doctrine or J I Packer's Concise Theology. But if you just want to stay with reading Sproul for now, read Everyone's A Theologian.
A must read before you start to do any serious Bible study, do this one first!
R. C. Sproul is one of the best theologians out there. This book lays out the various essential truths that Christian usually believe in. It is very academic and hard to read for the new believer. If you are interested in the deeper aspects of Christianity, this book is very essential to the Christian library.
I find I return to this book often. For each topic it provides easily understood summation, succinct summary points about the topic, & scripture references. Also, in the end matter there are recommendations to other resources for beginner, intermediate, advanced study.
