Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly
This lovely collection of knits brings classic patterns into focus with its contemporary take on stitch patterns, stylish sense of shape, and sweet use of detail. Samsøe (Feminine Knits) has expanded her original project with this deft follow-up volume. Grouped according to pattern type (Garter Stitch Patterns, Leaf Patterns, Structure Patterns, Cable Patterns, and Lace Patterns), each design is playfully named after a woman, beginning with "Rita" and ending with "Holly." Patterns include "Fiona," a structured garter-stitch sweater-coat, "Palma," a beautifully-constructed V-neck sweater with a back leaf panel, "Gerda," a feminine take on the classic Guernsey, "Lana," a cozy button-up lace-patterned sweater that has a cabled look, and "Cecilia," a delicate, delicious lace-patterned top. Most of the pieces in this collection are sweaters or tops, but Samsøe also provides half a dozen patterns for accessories, including a lace-edged scarf, two hat variations, a reversible poncho, wrist warmers, a mini-vest, and a cowl. From whimsical to cozy, delicate to structured, these extremely wearable patterns are both classic and contemporary, and should suit any knitter looking to produce pieces that will stand the test of time.

From the Publisher

Praise for Lene Holme Samsoe's previous title, Feminine Knits:

"5 out of 5 stars. The feminine and romantic designs showcase both contemporary and vintage ideas for fashion." - Knitting News

"Samsoe's girly show, 22 items of spiced sugar--but not sticky-sweet--niceness. Lace is the headliner throughout, with openwork making appearances as both star (floral-motif jackets, a tiered skirt, a beribboned bolero) and supporting player (tinging the edges of a triangle shawl, supplying a saucy central inset to a square-neck tank). Bobbles, pompoms, jacquard and cables add even more romantic lyricism to already alluring pieces." - Yarn Market News

"A gorgeous collection... Samsoe's patterns are very well written and clearly presented. I found a pattern for nearly every women in my life in this book." - KnitPurlGurl.com

"Delicate details. Attractive shapes. Pretty... All the designs (and they're mostly all sweaters) are what they claim to be--feminine knits." - KnittingScholar.com

"This volume is newly translated into English and features beautiful sweater, scarf and jacket patterns perfect for intermediate to advanced knitters." - American-Statesman

"Captivating designs with flattering silhouettes." - Quick & Easy Crochet

"The designs are interesting shapes, as are the uses of stitch patterns, such as the bobble and leaf cable at the centre of an Aran." - Slipknot: The Journal of the Knitting & Crochet Guild (UK)

    Great basic patterns

Found book to have many good basic patterns. Manny were mostly garter stitch which is usually easier especially for newer knitters. Am knitting Vickie now and probably will knit Petra.
