Purpose: The purpose is to promote compliance with sound business practices within the law for a healthcare facility. Specifically, the book was written to assist health information professionals in guiding their health information management department and organization to legally obtain correct reimbursement and to maintain practices that are compliant with healthcare compliance standards.
Audience: According to the author, the book is meant for any post-secondary or graduate school with a health information management program for a course related to healthcare compliance. Healthcare facilities, including physicians' offices, hospitals, and ambulatory care centers, can benefit by using this book to develop an internal training program for healthcare compliance. The author is an educator in a health information technology program in Florida and has written other books on healthcare procedure coding.
