Eternal

5.0 1
by Malevolent Creation

Eternal captures Malevolent Creation's heavy metal crunch as well as any of the group's previous releases, but it offers no outstanding songs. It's the kind of release that will satisfy fans, but it won't expand their audience drastically.

All death metal fans should have this album. Drummer Dave Culross is a beast on the kit, and the guitar riffs, while not especially technical or melodic, are still absolutely killer. The pace changes in several songs are more than welcome so things don't become monotonous, and the guitar solos are okay but the lyrics are very well put together. Overall one of the leanest, meanest CDs in the heavy metal kingdom - in my opinion equal to Suffocation's Effigy of the Forgotten.
