“Infinity Ring” fans are in for an action packed surprise! Just when readers thought the adventure was over, Dak and Sera are back at it, attempting to save the world from total annihilation. This time around though, they are the unsuspecting individuals responsible for the anomalies in history. How are they going to repair the damage when there are no Hystorians around to help? Even their own friendship is in question when they notice each other displaying uncharacteristically odd behaviors. How can they solve the world’s problems when they cannot even trust each other? Will they be able to defeat their enemy once and for all? Readers will not be disappointed by the twists and turns Eternity takes and how it concludes the series…or does it? This is is the eighth book in the “Infinity Ring” series. De La Peña does a remarkable job in keeping the storyline flowing and suspenseful. Middle Readers who enjoyed previous volumes in this series will certainly enjoy this. Using the Hystorian’s guide included with the book, readers can visit Scholastic’s website, type in the code to unlock the mission and attempt the Hystorian’s Challenge to see if they have what it takes to save the future. To some people, Infinity Ring: Eternity can look like a struggle to close seemingly endless portals in time, or simply a journey requiring teamwork, trust, and keeping friendships close together. Nonetheless, this epic dystopian time-travel novel tells a whole lot more interesting tale of buddies Dak Smyth and Sera Froste, the pair who fixed the Great Breaks and set the world on the right track. This tale also reveals that they still have a lot more to complete, and now the earth’s balance settles on the pair of heroes but this time they might not be able to fix the timeline that has been ruined… Dak, being brave and trustworthy, along with Sera, who’s always ready for a job, are best of friends. When the curious and dinosaur-loving Dak notices a young pterosaur in his backyard, he realizes that something in history is still broken. With almost all Hystorians gone, nobody except Dak and Sera can remember the past, so they are on their own but not so fast! Riq, another hero and a Hystorian, knows almost everything Dak and Sera knows and he is also still around. Failure is not an option. So with the crafty Riq who now gets in their way, who will win? I recommend this epic historical sci-fi to all historians, science fiction lovers, and people who simply enjoy seeing a timeline being fixed. This book is a short read, but with the amount of action, events, and drama in it, you’ll remember every second of this story. After this book, you’ll remember both real historical facts and the journey of this efficient pair. A great mix of adventure, thrill and fear, I rate it 5 stars. Also, I think it’s better to read the preceding seven books first, so as to ensure that you move along the series in a manner analogous to moving between different consequent points in space. A compliment on the series is that the stories are concocted by different authors, giving a different flavor and writing style to each book. Overall, this unexpected final installment of the series is an awesome book and I hope that many will become readers of it to find out what happens next as only the talented Matt De La Pena could tell.
