Overview

In Europe, they combine things we don't normally think of as compatible on this side of the pond -- from scrambled eggs and pizza to full frontal nudity and prime time TV. So it shouldn't come as all that much of a surprise that a passel of Euro musicians got a notion to meld electronic music with scream-inducing teen-pop, a combination that Eiffel 65 manages to pull off with surprising ease. The trio's calling card, "Blue," has already wowed audiences on several fronts, and if that tune's maddeningly catchy melody has insinuated itself into your brain, the baker's dozen that accompany it here are sure to follow. There's a cool, semidetached sheen to most of EUROPOP's ditties -- particularly more overtly postmodern tracks like "My Console" and "Silicon World" -- but singer Jeffrey Jey breaks through the synth curtain every so often to deliver a pure bubblegum delight like "Your Clown." If you're looking for an album to change the way you look at the world, you're probably barking up the wrong tree…but if you need a breather from the heaviness of everyday life, this disc will likely do you some good.

All Music Guide - Jose F. Promis
Eiffel 65's vocoder-heavy Europop, which yielded the major international dance smash "Blue (Da Ba Dee)," falls somewhere in the dance music spectrum between Daft Punk and the Vengaboys. It employs funky, deep house grooves with vocoder enhanced vocals, similar to Daft Punk and Modjo, yet many of the songs incorporate nursery rhyme choruses and solid pop stylings. The album has its share of "Blue" soundalikes, some better than others. For example, "Dub in Life," "Another Race," "Hyperlink (Deep Down)," and the unremarkable second single "Move Your Body" all sound like "Blue" and offer very little else. "Silicon World," on the other hand, also recalls their hit, but takes the formula into a much cooler and sophisticated direction. This album really succeeds, however, when the formula is stretched and the act tackles different musical styles. "Too Much of Heaven" is an intelligent, funky, anti-capitalist dance song, and "Living in a Bubble" is an interesting, string-enhanced hip-hop track. "Your Clown" is gothic and dark, and unmistakably recalls Depeche Mode. "Now Is Forever" is a trippy, shuffling slice of house, and "Europop," despite its title, is the album's acid house representative. Eiffel 65 will mostly be remembered for its hypnotic smash "Blue," however, and its less than stellar follow-up "Move Your Body." But if one digs deeper, then this album offers several surprises and interesting dance grooves.

Every single song by Eiffel 65 always has mega sound effects that give me a headache. I think they're sound effects are a little TOO strong for the human ear.

Europop, by Eifell 65, is one of the best cd's I've bought in a long time. There's only one song I don't favor on the whole cd. If you like Blue, then the rest of the cd is totally worth it. If you don't like Blue, don't buy the cd. The style stays pretty much the same and it's great dance music.

The CD Europop by Eiffel 65 is a great album. The thing that pisses me off is that you people limit yourselves to that Blue song. It's a good song and all, but I like he entire CD. Please listen to the rest of the CD! FAV SONGS: Another Race, Living in a buble, Too Much Of Heavan

I think that Eiffel 65 is one of the top 5 bands in the world and they should sour to the top like Bastreet Boys and Insyinc, but they have thier downfalles to and the song Eropop that they named the cd after isn't the best but still their my favorite group they ROCK!!!!!!!!!

Eiffel 65 has done a great job making this album. There are some really good songs in there, like ''Blue'', and ''Too Much of Heaven'', but there are also some bad ones, such as ''Europop'', which is just a waste of time to listen to. Otherwise, a nice compilation of songs that are simply unique.

The CD Europop is the best thing I ever listened to. I am a very picky person and my family was surprised that I like it. They still are. I didn't even listen to music before I heard Eiffel 65. Now I listen to their music all the time!

I think BLUE is an awesome song!! I love the Piano, and the special effects on the voice. The song has great beat and a great tune. It's just a song that hooks you in when you hear it on the radio. The only thing i don't like is the Chorus. It's like- I'm blue.... dabba..do..babba... er, what are they saying?

This CD is AWESOME!!! I asked for it as a gift because of the smash hit ''Blue.'' But, I soon came to realize that a lot of the songs on the album are just as cool; if not better than ''Blue.'' My personal favorites are ''The Edge,'' ''Dub in Life,'' ''Now is Forever,'' ''Livin' in a Bubble,'' and ''Too Much of Heaven.'' ''The Edge'' is a catchy tune that you just want to sing along to. The lyrics are those that I'm sure we all can relate to. ''Now is Forever'' is a haunting and beautiful song that sends a powerful message. To me, it is a cross between techno and Native American music. It really sticks in your head after you listen to it. ''Dub in Life'' is another one that sends a message...but not as powerful as ''Now is Forever;'' but still a good one to dance to. It tells about how people question their purpose on this Earth. ''Too Much of Heaven'' explains how society is so based on money and power; and ''Livin' In A Bubble'' is one about how some people live in fantasy worlds and don't face reality. I think the only song I'm not particually fond of is the ''Hyperlink'' one, because I don't listen to it as much as the others. The synthasizers and effects that they use in their music are really sweet as well. Still, the CD is DEFINATELY worth buying!! So, take my word for it..go out, and BUY THIS CD!! I promise, you WON'T regret it!!
