An Incredible Book for all Young Children to Enjoy

The book ¿Even Steven and Odd Todd,¿ written by Kathryn Cristaldi is an excellent book to read to children. The story is about a little boy Even Steven) who, in the beginning always does everything even. For example, his house it two stories high he has eight gerbils and ten goldfish. Then one day he gets a knock on his door, and it is his cousin Odd Todd. His cousin has come to visit, but Todd always does everything in odd numbers. Basically Steven had to change his routine. Whenever he does something, Todd changes it so that the result would be an odd number. Finally in the end, Steven plants a garden (of course with even numbers). Todd decides to add one more row to the garden, but everything in his row is of course odd. Steven thinks his garden is ruined, but the judge awards him first place. The judge gives him two tickets, so of course he and his cousin go on the trip together. This book has a magnificent storyline that would attract readers of any young age. This is the type of book that will keep students interested in what is going to happen next, and wanting to the teacher to continue to read more. The book also has great illustrations that correspond to the words throughout it. The pictures are very colorful and bring the words to life. Even if a child is not able to read the book, they can understand what is going on based off of the pictures. This author has several other children¿s books, and all of them are highly recommended. They all have a great storyline and have a lesson for the child to learn about life. Overall, I think it¿s a great book because it has a moral to the story. It teaches children that you can work together, even if someone is different, and accomplish a goal. As a teacher, you could use this book to help teach a math lesson or simply as a good reading book. It is easy to read and I think that children would enjoy it very much. A book that you can use for several more than one subject is always a good idea and this is definitely one of those books.

My son is in the first grade and really enjoys this book. His teacher uses 'Even Steven and Odd Todd' as an addition to her teaching curriculum and highly recommends it.
