Overview

New York Times bestselling author Sandra Hill delivers a sizzling new entry in her Deadly Angels series, as a Viking vangel's otherworldly mission teams him with a Navy SEAL who's more than his match— she's his predestined mate . . .

The fact that vampire angel Harek Sigurdsson was a Norseman in his mortal life doesn't make thawing out after exile in Siberia any easier. But things heat up when his search for evil Lucipires connects him with Camille Dumaine, a human who thrums with sensual energy that can mean only one thing: she's the mate Harek's been seeking for centuries . . .

The SEALs call her "Camo" for her ability to blend into a crowd—yet Harek's intense blue gaze singles Camille out like a white-hot spotlight. The security wiz was hired to help bring down a ruthless band of international kidnappers, but Camille senses an unspoken agenda—besides Harek's bold declaration that she's his "destiny." Just Camille's luck that the sexiest man she's ever met may also be . . . a vampire!

After a brief vacation in the Florida Keys, Hill returns to familiar San Diego stomping grounds for her action-packed sixth Deadly Angels paranormal contemporary (after Vampire in Paradise). Middle Eastern extremists, unduly influenced by evil Lucipires, kidnap several women. Ancient Vangel (Viking vampire angel) and modern-day computer whiz Harek Sigurdsson joins a Navy SEAL mission to rescue them. He welcomes the time in the sun, as he usually hangs out in Siberia, cooling his heels in penance for committing the sin of greed. Harek isn’t too impressed with soldier Camille Dumaine, a member of the fictional Navy WEALS (Women on Earth, Air, Land and Sea), until he realizes that she’s been concealing both her beauty and her warm heart. Balancing the seriousness of the mission, Camille and Harek become better acquainted at her brother’s wedding in New Orleans, which allows for a visit with his brother, Ivak, and other familiar faces. Hill’s Deadly Angels series can always be counted on for humor, brisk pacing, and steamy encounters. (Sept.)

The story of Harek and Camille was very interesting. I was glad Harek saw the light in the end not to allow Greed to win. The mission part was interesting also in parts.

*Received this book for the purpose of an honest review.* Review will be cross-posted to MyBookAddictionandMore.com EVEN VAMPIRES GET THE BLUES is book 6 in Sandra Hill's Deadly Angels series, however it works as a stand alone read. Yes there are connecting characters and an ongoing story-line, but with that said it still feels like a complete story. I loved all the characters from the main to the secondary but will say that Harek is something special. Camo as she's know by her SEALs and Weals teammates is the perfect heroine for Harek. The story is fast-paced and engaging with enough steam to keep things interesting. Fans of Sandra Hill know there are sure to be some funny moments, hey eve Tante Lula makes an appearance. This is one of those stories that completely takes you out of reality and allows you to enjoy some fun and relaxation as you lose yourself in another world while two people fall in love. Yes they are battling themselves and the enemy but there's still time for romance, there is ALWAYS time for romance....If you are new to Sandra Hill, yes you come into this series with this read and still follow along, you'll be eager to grab the previous titles, and look forward to the upcoming releases. I highly recommend EVEN VAMPIRES GET THE BLUES for all readers who enjoy a great plot, outstanding characters, steam, and some fun! You'll be so delighted to have found Sandra Hill!

It wasn’t an issue to jump into this series at the sixth book, Sandra Hill took a few chapters to inform readers about the world, introduce our characters and give some history on the Vangels. A quite clever mash up of vampires, angels and Vikings. Yes, those Vikings: the battle axe wielding, broadsword swinging, longboat riding buff, brave and alpha Norsemen. Harek is actually a wonderfully clever cross (for me) between Erik (True Blood), Rollo (Vikings) with a touch of Christopher Walken in Prophecy… minus the creepy bits. Sentenced to this servitude as a Vangel for his sin of Greed, Harek is constantly butting heads with Michael (yes, the archangel) and flaunting the rules: usually landing him in Siberia to ‘cool his heels’, literally. Brilliant and charming, Harek’s particular talents are well suited to all things tech, and his greed extends to knowledge and mastery of everything new. When he is tasked with a joint mission of Nigerian Special Forces, SEALs and his own Vangel team to roust a cell of Boko Haram. Female WEAL Camille is a much vaunted member of her team, aside from her fighting skills and ability to function under pressure, her ability to blend into any crowd with a change to her appearance has earned her the nickname of Camo, and the respect of the SEALs at Coronado. If only her military career was as respected by her family…. These two have wonderful interactions: neither believing in relationships as possible for them, and the discomfiture is adorable. Of course, bringing a Vangel to your family home for a wedding just before the big mission is recipe for disaster: a chocolate rose scented recipe. Action, dialogue and some super steamy moments that have me pondering an “S Spot”, once I grabbed the flow of this story, I couldn’t put it down. What’s not to like? Hot men, a good v evil mission that works on multiple levels and some really intriguing cameo appearances from Harek’s brothers…I’ve got to go back to the start of this series and read them all. I received an eArc copy of the title from the publisher via Edelweiss for the Avon Addicts programme in return for an honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.

Review: Even Vampires Get the Blues (Deadly Angels Series) by Sandra Hill http://wp.me/p3d0RZ-2UE Release Date: August 25, 2015 Genre: Paranormal Romance Reviewed by: Reading in Pajamas/ Donna Rated 5 Stars REVIEW: Another fun Vangel installment full of the Viking camaraderie I’ve grown to love with Michael joining in (in an angelic way of course). Even the evil Lucipires have the group dynamic that makes you hate and enjoy them at the same time. I didn’t warm up to Harek right away but that stands to reason due to his sin but boy did I warm up later. Camille was the perfect match for him – of course – and her WEAL training made her more than capable when facing the dangers to come. It was sexy hot and fun with the terrorist/demon angle making it exciting. Another winner for me and I cannot wait for the next book. The last of the VIK’s and it should be a good one. *Review copy provided by Avon Books in exchange for an honest review.
