Editorial Reviews

Library Journal
This companion volume to Fox's Morning Food: Cafe Beaujolais (LJ 3/15/90) and her earlier Cafe Beaujolais (Ten Speed, 1985) presents recipes that are served at dinner at this widely acclaimed restaurant in Mendocino, CA. Kump is the dinner chef-and husband of Fox, who opened the cafe in the late 1970s (readers will be disappointed to learn that they serve only dinner now, for Margaret's "morning food" is famous)-and his style is more formal than hers. Kump's background of classic French training and a love of Thai and Mexican cuisines, among others, are reflected in such recipes as Sauted Foie Gras with Garlic Confit Puree, Roast Chicken with Fresh Ginger Sauce, and Yucatan-Thai Crab Cakes. Many of the recipes are quite complicated, but the instructions are very detailed and helpful (and if the sidebars sometimes run long, they are informative). Recommended for area libraries and most other larger collections.
