Overview

What every man wishes he knew about what his wife desires most.

Authors Stephen Arterburn and Fred Stoeker believe that every man can meet the secret desires of his wife. The problem is, most of us aren't exactly sure what that desire is and how we can go about fulfilling it faithfully.

In Every Man's Marriage, you can discover the common misconceptions about what it means to exercise biblical authority and understand the role of submission in the marriage relationship. This groundbreaking book can help men grasp and apply essential but often overlooked principles for marital leadership.

Through candid reflections on their own struggles to achieve biblical unity in their own marriages, along with many years of combined experience in marital counseling, Arterburn and Stoeker apply solid, time-tested biblical wisdom to the everyday potential distortions that can lead to strife in a marriage.

The second book in the "Every Man" series, this is the perfect follow-up to the best-selling Every Man's Battle. Every Man's Marriage is a terrific resource for establishing mutual respect and sacrifice in your marriage based on Christ's example of loving His bride, the church.

Includes a comprehensive workbook for individual or group study.

I have only good things to say about his book. It is not only tanglible and realistic but fully biblical as well. And more importantly, it is convicting without a feeling of judgement. It simply sets a standard. The premise of the book can be summed up in one thought: the marriage shares equal importance to a man's position in the home. Anything short reflects self-gratification and is selfish. However, while this is certainly not a criticism, I think the author may at times cross the line from serving the marriage and minimizing his personal worth. There is more to the relationship than service and one wonders reading the book when his wife will ever step up to the plate herself and yeild. I whole-heartedly agree in spirit but not in his every example. Finally, the comment made by someone who thinks all a man has to do to find out what your wife wants is to just "ask her" has missed the point. The book is not about her desires. It is about a husbands role and his willingness to fulfill it. His comment underestimates the root problems of the human heart and human nature.

Your marriage does not have to be broke in order to find this book great. I picked it up simply to help improve an already good marriage of 25 years strong. This book gave me the tools necessary to continue on for the next 25 years. Layout is great and gives several first hand examples of real life issues that every reader can relate to. There is a section that you must give your wife to complete. This question section gives both husband and wife the opportunity to use the book together to help in the relationship. This book is not designed for those that are not serious about the Marriage

I don't know what that last reviewer is talking about - this book is fabulous!!! The only way you wouldn't be helped by this book is if you are too proud to get beyond your own selfishness. I suspect that is the case with the previous reviewer. This book is an amazing resource and the reason I am in a great relationship today. The 3 authors KNOW what they are talking about, and they are living proof that their ideas are correct. If you need relational help, BUY THIS BOOK!!!!

This book is helping to save my marriage. The authors are telling my husband what I need him to hear, and he is, for the first time, understanding the importance of treating me like he cherishes me. I am watching a transformation take place, and he's not even done reading the book yet! When I read it, I only hoped it would make an impression on my husband, as he's read so many other books (at my request) and has refused to change. Somehow, this book has written things in a way that he 'gets it.'

There are many books out there geared toward restoring that special union God intended for Man and Women. But this book WORKS. It crosses cultural lines and speaks to the "Heart" of a man, not just to his "Head". My wife has been blown away at the changes that have taken place in my life and our marriage, since i started reading this book. I strongly recommend it to all men. Jerry

This is NOT a good book. It frequently uses anecdotal evidence based on the authors personal experience  and then extrapolates THEIR experience to EVERY man. Apparently his personal experience is that he was a sterotypical male of the 1950s. The MANY husbands I know don't act that way.  Save your money look for a book with more insight.

This book is really mainly for the stereotypical man, meaning one who is almost cave-man in his behavior. If you don't see yourself walking around with a club to "kill food", you may not identify with everything in this book. Don't get me wrong - it's a good book - however the target audience is NOT every married man. I'll wager it's not even MOST married men. It's the married men who refuse to communicate & think women are only good for cooking dinner & popping out babies. If you're that kind of dude, you'll learn a lot. The things that were negative about the book are that there seems to be a lot of emphasis on men "giving up" their desires to make their wife happy. The problem with this is that isn't really Biblical... The goal should be transparency, not making someone else feel loved by begrudgingly giving up what you desire. It's a decent book if you take it with a grain of salt, and it's most effective for the guys who think masculinity is about red meat & artillery.

How in the world do these three misfits put their collective heads together and create such a mindless collection of drivel? Any man who really wants to know what his woman desires, need only ask her. This text trivializes the process and intent of healthy marital communications, as well as the moral responsibilities of loving partners to foster each other's individual growth regardless of what 'inconvenience' that may bring them. Let's send these guys back to the bath houses they came from, and simply take the time to listen to what our spouses have been telling us all along. A riveting example of clinical anectdotes run amok, a must miss read.
