Overview

Octavia Longbow has a complicated life. A job as a producer at Dallas' top radio station. An international hip-hop star for an ex-boyfriend. A handsome new man without a penny in his pocket. A group of strong-willed girlfriends who aren't afraid to share their opinions about everything under the sun. And a genius for revenge.

Octavia Longbow is a show producer at Hot 100, Dallas' top R&B radio station, and she wants what every sistah wants. Alphonzo 'The Radio Gigolo' would love to give it to her but she's holding out for I. Rome—a double platinum superstar who's given her nothing but three years of hot loving and heartache. So when she meets drop-dead gorgeous Legacy Childs after running him over with her car, she develops second thoughts about what love really means.

Cee-Cee Lovely, lady deejay extraordinaire, can get any man she wants—but Alphonzo has what she needs. Watching him chase after her best friend is hard to do. As if that's not enough, Alphonso's been hanging out with Tony Tune, the morning radio host with a private pleasure palace filled with women, a million dollar contract, and more tricks up his sleeve than an out-of-work magician.

If you ever wondered what really goes on down at the radio station, Essence bestselling author Victor McGlothin will take you for a Hot 100 joy ride into the lives of the wildest deejays on the radio. "What goes on down at the station, stays at the station"…until now.

    Ain't this the truth...

Very good, excellent read. Read it in 24 hrs and as expected I was not disappointed. It was good to see Legacy, Marshall and Jasmine return and see how their lives have evolved, although the focus (of the previous characters) was on Legacy and his relationship with Octavia. I felt like maybe you were speaking to me when you wrote this book. So much of how I viewed men and what I 'thought ' I wanted in a man was so similar to Cece's views and what the man should have materialistically or in relation to education. I could also relate to the issues regarding women who have married someone and have settled for the 'compensating factors', but is that really enough? Should they hold out for true love, and when it hits them, how do they know? Then possibly meeting someone whom they think is their complete 'soul mate' but are shackled to the man they settled for. Personally, I do realize the material is trivial, because the material things you obtain while being here are not what you are remembered for, nor does it define who you are. Now this issue with what women want...I'd have to agree with you on it (you must have spoken to a lot of women during your research for the book). Reciprocity. Interesting, but true. We just want a man who will give push for push, what we are giving in the relationship. Well done...you have definitely read me, if not many women out there. Now this mess with Truest...she was trifling, but she definitely made the book interesting and there are women like her out there. Other women beware and keep a firm hold on your man. In the mix of her doing wrong, and have done wrong to so many others...she ended up being the victim of the heartache she had bestowed on so many other women before. What goes around definitely comes back around. Lastly, Octavia...she was crazy (my favorite character for this novel) and she had a big decision to make. Stay with the old and pray / hope that things will eventually work out the way she'd always wished they would. Or attempt something new with Legacy, she made the right decision. If after years a man doesn't change his stripes, why would we think he would now? Let go of the same old, same old...even if there is no one to move on to, move on alone. You'll be better after doing it. Such an insightful and thought provoking book. You'll having me reeling for weeks and I thank you... Sincerely A Loyal Fan
