The information in this book has been helpful in solving some of my dog's skin issues. A friend suggested a food allergy might be the problem, so I headed to Barnes and Noble to find some help. The dietary information in the beginning of the book was wonderful. The dog biscuit recipes are great, although I wish there were more wheat-free recipes. Wheat is a common allergen, and is the problem for my hound. Recipes are marked with symbols to denote those that are wheat-free, low cal, etc. to aid in easy identification of particular needs. A spiral back would make this bood easier to use. The presentation is all black and white...standard paperback fare. Altogether, a very helpful book. I heartily recommend making the effort to learn about your dog's dietary needs and do a bit of coofing for him. It's not that time consuming, and the difference in our dog is remarkable! If your dog is doing a lot of scratching and chewing, consider that a food allergy might be the cause and do some research. It has certainly paid off in our case.

I bought this book and one other book because i am tired of buying canned food. my dog is 65 lbs and she eats alot. this book has everything. i cant wait to try and make things for my dog. i enjoyed how they write a lil bit about reason why canned food and kibble is not the best that it really could be. i just wish it went into more detail about if company's still use horse meat in canned food. i got mad that i have been supporting that honorable process. why feed a dog horse when we eat meat of cows and chicken. eww. anyway. one keys party i wanted to share was BBQ chicken dog bones. it said to add 2 tablespoons BBQ sauce. at first i was upset that she put that cause dogs cant have much sugar but as i kept reading she has recipes for gravy's and they want you to make them. i felt much better cause nothing in this book had you adding sugar to the dogs food. this a a great true and true book. a must have if you want to cook.
