This is not a very good book.I suppose it does a decent job of compiling a bunch of scriptures about heaven . . . but that's about it.

The book gives the impression that believers in their final state will be (floating around, bodiless) in heaven. The reality is, that biblical Christianity teaches that a bodiless heaven is only an intermediary state where the soul is disconnected from the body until the return of Jesus where all believers will receive a resurrected and glorified body and dwell forever on the new heaven AND new earth. (Non-believers will also be resurrected in physical form, but will be cast from God's presence.)

The book acknowledges this, but fails to understand what it means or how it fits into either historical theology or biblical data.

The exegesis of a variety of passages is just flat out wrong. Both Christian and secular scholars would reject much of the interpretation of the data in this book.

Ultimately, a book like this is a symptom of the modern neglect of the teaching of the bodily resurrection of believers. Pop-theologians speak so much about "dying and going to heaven" that they leave out the return of Jesus and the bodily resurrection of the saints to dwell in the New Heaven and New Earth in bodily form.
