More About This Textbook

Overview

Evidence of Redcontains dramatic events of the creation of a people, interwoven with a haunting narrative of their lost homelands. Howe takes her readers through the chaos of lost lives, the cannibalism of fallen lovers, and invites readers into her world of Choctaw Code Talking. I Also Recommend:

    Evidence of AMAZINGNESS!

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this collection of poetry! Leanne Howe has mastered the art of using language to stun the reader. With sharp diction, imagery that sometimes shimmers with beauty and sometimes lurks in the shadows due to its graphic nature, each poem evokes a physical response from the reader. She is rather humorous with her irony in her series of poems about "Noble Savage" and "Indian Mascot," yet their dire situation is poignant, and compels the reader to both laugh and cry. at the same time. I still marvel at her control over language, and would recommend this book, hands down, to my friends. Like I said, it can get a bit graphic sometimes, so I wouldn't recommend it to anyone below high-school grade levels, or to people who are easily offended. This book will make you think--- you can count on that.
