fascinating, scientific, well researched, and loads of stories of people's experiences

Excellent book full of science, biology, neurology, and research studies interwoven with many accounts of near death experiences. The book is based on the author's own exhaustive study based on a lenghty survey he developed that has been taken by over 2300 people over the world who report their own experiences. Designed to fulfill the research qualities of validity and reliability, this survey finds that no matter the age, language, nationality, or religious/faith background, the near death, or death with revival, experiences are stunningly the same for everyone. Some last longer and therefore include more components, but in the 'end' we all go into a peaceful, totally conscious, wondrous state, which appears to be just the beginning of a new and better existence. Part science text book and part narrative, I couldn't put this book down. it will blow away scientifically every possibility you've heard for this experience, e.g. that misfiring, chaotic nerves in the dying brain cause a hallucination of feeling like you're floating above your dying body. I highly encourage anyone who wonders 'whats next?', or 'what did my loved one feel?', to read this book. And I suppose my highest praise is that i would take the time to tediously type this out with one finger om my nook!

Excellent and thought-provoking!

I very much enjoyed reading this book. It was well researched and so fascinating. I think it could have been longer to go into more detail about what the NDErs learned. By this I mean that many times in the book the NDErs mention that during their NDE they were made aware of many secrets and knowledge, but specifics were not shared. The book is based on Dr. Long's NDERF website and I will definitely go to that website to read more and maybe I will find answers there. I find it interesting that NDEs are very similar for people all over the world and in all different cultures, with people of different beliefs! I highly recommend this book to everyone!

"evidence of the afterlife" is a very remarkable bestseller writtion by dr. jeffrey long who has done some remarkable surveys and interviews with people who have comeback from near death expeiences and looked into alot of medical background research to conclude that there is a after life after all. great gift idea for a friend or family member

Ask Yourself if Seeing a 5 Star Rating Lessens the Value of a Review

Intellectual honesty and objectivity is at the core of this book, which will no doubt gain more and more validity within the scientific community as time and research goes on. The author asks rhetorically, what could be more important than delving into the age-old question of what happens to "us" when we die? The author, at one time an agnostic in regards to his belief in "higher powers" and "heaven", uses scientific method to analyze thousands of documented near death experiences or NDEs and reaches salient conclusions of the existence of an afterlife based on circumstantial evidence, which is evidence nonetheless and as any lawyer will tell you can be more conclusive than a first hand account. In the book a doctor is quoted as saying "Physicians must be wary of accepting religious belief as scientific data." The author adds "Equal caution should be exercised in accepting scientific belief as scientific data." In science, the axiom holds true that the more we know, the more we learn how much we don't know. For the atheist, it must be a conundrum to ask oneself if they are open-minded enough to explore the possibility that something may cause them to question their core belief, usually based on scientific acumen of irrefutable proof. "Absence of proof is not proof of absence" ... and you just might find this book a tad enlightening ... to be intellectually honest. :-}

Good evidence of an afterlife

This book is in some respects more of a scientific and medical explanation of near death experiences. It tends to be repetitious in parts, but is a good medical explanation of near death experiences and why they support a belief in an afterlife. The author uses his research to counter the skeptics claims. It would have been more helpful to have provided more of the stories of those persons who have experienced such events. It is particularly revealing that young children or people from other countries undergoing such near death events relate the same or similar afterlife experiences as those who are older.

Highly recommended

Of all the books I've read on this subject, this was certainly the most believable. Dr. Long offers fully substantiated validation for a subject sometimes considered to be a little contentious. Although there is a lot of scientific jargon, I found it to be an easy read and fully enjoyed it. I have also recommended the book to people who have recently lost a loved one because I think it answers their questions about the afterlife.

Highly recommend this book

Having had a NDE myself, I was gratified to find my experience was so similar to others. I highly recommend this book for anyone who has had such an experience or for anyone who would like to learn more about it.

Evidence from a Medical Doctor

With no agenda. People will rate 1 star because it conflicts with their beliefs that God isnt real or an afterlife isnt real, etc. Ignore those and argue the evidence presented, not personal beliefs.

Great Read for those with an open mind regarding what is most likely something we will all experience in our future.

This is an outstanding collection of near death experiences (NDE)stories collected and analyzed in a scientific method. It expounds upon previous work of Dr. Raymond Moody in his book on the subject which was published in 1975 entitled Life after Life. Numerous other publications have been made since that time with thousands of case studies.

The experiences related through this work will be easy for many of us to accept if we already believe in the hereafter or come to this book with an open mind. However, I feel that many in the scientific and medical world (MD's, not nurses or other clinicians) will still find the concept hard to swallow. Just like Big Foot, many of these critics, the NDE will not be believed until there is physical proof.

Energy can not be neither created nor destroyed. There must be some physical evidence demonstrated in a controlled environment which can prove that a spirit does indeed depart the physical body upon death.

Hopefully such research can be accomplished in the coming years that can ultimately prove that life does indeed continue after life.

The "evidence" seems circumstantial

I am enjoying this book very much, and agree with the author's conclusions. I just feel the word "evidence" is misleading.

Excellent and inspiring read!!

There is a life beyond earth that is even more beautiful than words could ever describe!
Truly amazing to read the stories of peoples life after death experiences and how it changed their lives. Doctor did a good job proving this is not just a similar dream that people are having all over the world! From children to adults they all experience similar life after death experiences that make you want to keep reading to the end. Couldn't put the book down!

Excellent Research. Highly effective.

Very convincing research. He has spent a lot of time and effort to address all aspects of the subject as well as effectively answer the criticisms of detractors. Highly recommended.
