Overview

The life that inspired Evita, the major motion picture starring Madonna.
The story begins in a dusty village lost in the Argentine pampas, where a girl, born out of wedlock, scrambles her way to the capital city by the time she is fifteen. It ends with the embalmed corpse of Eva Peron being hidden away by nervous politicians for fear that if the working people of Argentina knew where it was buried, it would inspire them to revolution. In between Eva Peron became first the actress Eva Duarte, then the mistress of Colonel Perón, then, in October 1945 after the "shirtless ones" had swept Peron into office, the president's wife. In the colorful, tumultuous setting of postwar Argentina, she wielded a power—spiritual and practical—that has few parallels outside of hereditary monarchy. She was literally idolized by millions but was hated and feared by many as well. She became Evita, the legend.

    It was wonderful

This is an outstanding book. It gives much more than just the life of this amazing woman. So many other details are included from the town she grew up in to explanation of the state the government was in at each phase of her life. I read this book in hopes that if someday I have the honor of portraying Eva in the musical 'Evita' I would be able to understand her background and do the part justice.

I am a high school sophomore and I chose to read this book for my project. I thought this book was a really great book to read because
of the many details it discussed about Eva's life.It discussed many topics about her life involving her husband Juan Peron which also gave
me a clearer look on why she became so popular. Fraser and Navarro did a really great job at separating the truths from the myths. Though
some people still believe the myths about Eva Peron the book gave a great explanation on why the myths were just rumors. The book was
also organized very well, I really liked the way they discussed about her family and then discussed her life in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The book
gave me most of the information I needed which helped a lot with my project. It discussed many things that I didn't know about her which was
great because i got to know her better and understand more of what she went though. It discusses her story in a simple and detailed way which
helps me connect with the whole story without any confusion. Eva i think was the most influential person in her era and is a great role model for
women. I would really recommend this simply because of the well written and simple the book is and i think will be for others who would want to
learn more about her life story.

I am a sophomore in high school and I am reading this book for a research project for english class. I really enjoyed this book because
of how detailed this is. I love Nicholas Fraser and Marysa Navarro's writing style because it is so simple, yet so complex. This book gave
me exactly what I need for my project. I didn't have to use many outside sources because the information is all in the book. I think this
book perfectly depicted the life of Eva Peron and I am glad i picked this book. This book was not a challenging read, it is very simple to
read and understand. I am so happy that i picked this book. I love the way it tells her story. After reading this book I love Eva so much more
because of they depicted her life and her story. I knew a lot about Evita already because of the musical, but after reading this book I understand
her so much better. Evita is one of my dream roles in a musical so doing this project has taught me so much more about her life.
I am so happy that I picked this book over others because not only was this book informational, it was also very enjoyable.
Evita was truly and amazing women and I greatly enjoyed reading this book. It is a very book on Evita and I think it is perfect for
anyone interested in reading about Evita. I highly recommend it to anyone interested it her or just anyone is general. It was a very
good read and I hope others enjoyed this book as much as I did.
