De principaux résultats seront la conquête de l’immortalité, la création d’Intelligences Artificielles supérieures à l’Homme et la colonisation de l’univers de la part de la nouvelle race.
“Evolution: l’avenir” est une histoire époustouflante qui se déroule dans un avenir prochain rendu presque méconnaissable par les nouvelles technologies.

XXIVème siècle. Les humains habitent la Terre et la Lune, dernières forteresses du pouvoir passé. Mars et le Réseau sont peuplés par les intelligences artificielles et par les âmes. Ces dernières sont obtenues en digitalisant le cerveau après la mort. La réalité virtuelle permet aux deux races de communiquer. Leurs différences sont profondes, leurs intérêts inconciliables.
Les humains ont renvoyé la mort réelle à un avenir indéterminé avec la digitalisation mais ils ne se sentent pas heureux: ils éprouvent de l’admiration mais aussi de l’envie et un sens d’infériorité envers les êtres virtuels.
Les créatures digitales par contre ne supportent pas d’être reléguées dans des mondes trop petits pour leurs ambitions sans limites. Elles ont développé les compétences pour des milieux extraterrestres pendant l’expérience martienne. Elles ont surtout acquis la sécurité indispensable pour affronter la colonisation d’autres systèmes solaires.
Les humains financent le projet Alpha Centauri en échange du renoncement des êtres virtuels à s’épandre sur la Terre. La Sécurité Terrestre, avant le départ, intercepte un message suspect provenant de l’Agence Spatiale. Terrorisme? Les indices conduisent aux Elus, une secte entrée dans le Réseau avec un suicide collectif cinquante ans auparavant…

Eve et Victoire, les protagonistes, sont des “âmes”, des êtres digitaux dont le cerveau a été digitalisé après la mort. Elles se déplacent dans un contexte de changements d’époque, restant toujours impliquées au point de fondre leur destin à celui du peuple digital.
