This is an epic adventure of an early Texan. This guy was as tough as nails. He built from scratch several gristmills, was a blacksmith for James Bowie, fought indians etc. He finally left for California because he was against secceding from the states and joing the confederacy. I agree with another reader that the free nookbooks seem to have problems. Many good scanned copies are available at archive bboks. These can be downloaded to your computer then copied to your Nook's MY Documents page then read for free.

This book was hard to read due to some missing parts and overall bad text quality. The stories I could actually read were interesting and conversational. If I can find another copy, I would get it, but don't recommend the nook version.
