Ex Cineribus Resurge [NOOK Book]

Overview

It is 2011 in an alternate war-torn Victorian-era world. A young girl and her guardian seek the Emperor of the country to ask him to stop the ten year civil war. A war between those who are for, and those who are against new technologies, and between the non-religious versus those that still believe. This short story is a prelude to my upcoming novel The Clockwork Universe.

Meet the Author

Caitlin McColl has been writing stories as soon as she learned how to read and write. As a young girl and in her teenage years she wrote many short stories, mostly fantasy - with dragons and wizards and other fantastical monsters. She still loves fantasy and in her most recent works, Under A Starlit Sky, All About Eve, its prelude, and her 2 steampunk novels The Clockwork Universe (theclockworkuniverse.com) and The Stained Glass Heart (thestainedglassheart.com) that follow on from Under a Starlit Sky, all involve aspects of fantasy or the supernatural, mixed in with our real world - no dragons or fairies or wizards here!Yet...something slightly different. A different perspective. Something that makes our world, the one that we can see around us, just a little bit more interesting and exciting, with the ability to mask the humdrum days we all have - those cold, grey, rainy, depressing days. The days you have to get up extra early for work, and battle morning rush hour. The days you accidentally sleep in, lock yourself out of the house and realize your still wearing your slippers. With fantasy injected into stories involving our world (your world), it makes it easier to imagine yourself there. Because they, the characters, are normal, down-to-earth people just like yourself - but something is...different.She has short stories published in a couple anthologies - Heart of Steel in the 'Forged in Flame' anthology by Xchyler Publishing and a story in 13 Tales of the Paranormal anthology. She has also released 2 Steampunk short story collections through Smashwords, and also available on Amazon (along with her first novel Under A Starlit Sky)I hope you enjoy my stories :)

    Did not like it

This story held great promise right up to the point two people from the street just walk into the "emporer's" house with no guards just an ineffectual secretary.
