    Closest to the real thing!

This book has really helped me prepare for the MCAT. The passages were really similar to the real MCAT passages and the questions were of the same difficulty. There's a lot of practice material in this book and it helped me increase my Verbal score from a 7-8 to a 10-11. I highly recommend this book to all those that want to improve their MCAT verbal scores.

    Not Helpful For Me

I have taken the MCAT twice now, and in my opinion, this book is not representative of the verbal passages in the MCATs I have taken. For one, I am less than half way through the book and I have already read some extremely controversial passages which the MCAT exam writers would certainly avoid (e.g. abortion, women's rights issues). Also, as one who has written questions for college exams, I believe that the questions are very poorly written, and I have found lots of typos in the passages that any word processing pogram should have spotted. The passages, for the most part, are too conversational and are not sited as comming from external sources, as passages from the MCATs are. I find that I am overwhelmingly unhappy with this study guide.
