Editorial Reviews

Steinker, Angelica
Jane Simmons-Moake has written a significant book to accompany her award-winning set of videos. As typical of Simmons-Moake, this book is very well organized. If you are just starting out in agility, this book is an excellent resource that will help you prepare your dog for agility competition. If you are an agility veteran, this book will give you excellent ideas for instructing your students, specifically, what to have your students train for and how to proof the training.

Simmons-Moake has kept the large amount of information on this book well organized and easy to read. Sections are clearly defined so that the reader can easily find a specific obstacle. Competitors starting out in agility will want to get this book so that they have a clear picture of what is required of their dogs to excel in this sport. Instructors looking for ideas will also find this a useful reference.
Clean Run

Carol Morris
Jane Simmons-Moake's new agility book is written in a fast-paced, clear, concise manner that is excellent for both beginner and experienced agility handler. I particularly liked the way she emphasized the same principles used in obedience; a dog accustomed to these will definitely have an advantage when starting agility. My agility knowledge has been expanded and I am anxious to try her methods.
The Belgian Sheepdog
Sondrol, Helen
This book is for you if you are trying to achieve a high level of dog-handler teamwork, while having a great time with your dog.

In this book you will learn the rules, commands, procedures, run-bys, adding angles and distance, calling him toward and sending him to obstacles. Simmons-Moake explains in great detail how to train your dog for each obstacle with photographs and diagrams. There are special instructions for training puppies. Besides suggesting various methods, she tells you what to expect, how to correct errors, and how to progress from working on lead to obeying commands from a distance. Text boxes offer "Training Tips" to avoid problems and/or correct them.

Agility is a way to have fun while training your pet, even if you are not serious about competition. The training will give you hours of quality time with your dog, time which you will both enjoy. Isn't that why you have your dog?
