These nine essays, among Thoreau’s most popular writings, grew out of his daily saunters around Concord, Massachusetts. Published only after his death, these early works document Thoreau’s developing eye for natural description. Includes "Walking,” "A Natural History of Massachusetts,” "A Winter Walk,” "Autumnal Tints,” "Wild Apples” and "Night and Moonlight,” among others.
