Overview

Miller Spurlock might seem like a laid back man on the outside, but piss him off, or violate his trust, and he'll show you the meaning of pain.

He was a Navy SEAL. He could kill a man a hundred different ways and not break a sweat.

He's also a police officer and member of the SWAT team, which means he has the knowledge and skills to get away with it.

Rage boils in his gut when he witnesses what happens to the beautiful Mercy Shepherd during a SWAT op from hell that even his worst nightmare couldn't conjure up. And it surprises the hell out of him when she wants him, and him only, to comfort her in the aftermath.

Miller becomes the one shining beacon of light at the bottom of Mercy's pit of despair.

The one man that could pull her through the rough days ahead and make her whole again.

And during her road back to herself, she realizes that she's got the one thing she ever wanted in life...a hero to call her own.

Lani you did it again!! I loved everyone of your books. I also love that we never have to wait more than a month to read your next one. Bring on Foster, he needs his book now, or I should say I need his book now.

MUST READ story. The page by page turn I couldn't get enough of and the words were jumping out at me the faster I was reading the story. Trust me when I say this is one series you don't want to miss hell any of the authors stories you don't want to miss. She has so much details that are in her writing it's truly one of the best. The details are a picture for sure in your head of everything. The words are even better, it's wonderfully written the story told beautifully. ***I received this story for free in exchange for an honest review, see more of my review @ http://jmhoward2007.blogspot.com on 8-13-15 ***

4 stars Honestly, it shouldn’t be too hard to figure out that I’m a huge fan of Lani’s. Ever since reading Center Mass, she has become one of my all-time favorite authors. I love that her books have the perfect combination of romance and suspense. I also like that the guys job usually factors into to how the guy protects/saves the girl. I really liked Miller and Mercy’s book (which I also have liked the previous books just as much except book 2 but I’m not touching on that). I think that they were a cute couple and really clicked well with each other. You noticed they had amazing chemistry right off at the very beginning. I do wish that Miller would have used his job a little more in order to solve “the case”. I mean he did use his job, but it just wished it would have been more police office/SWAT things related further in the book. I thought that the problem was resolved too easy. And my only other complaint which goes with all of her books is that when something does happen like right after she skips it and goes on to the next scene. I wish that we would get more time to read about what’s happing. I don’t know if I explained that good or not but here’s an example. EX: Like say it’s the very end of a book and the guys just arrested the criminal, well it would end like right after he’s cuffed. I like to read about more about what’s happening. Other than that it was a 4 solid star book for me. I really liked where some of her other characters from her other series were featured in this book. Such as Miller’s brother, Trance, who is from her Dixie Warden’s series. And there are a few others too. I really liked how the author has these three brothers named. She named them after Alcohol, which I think was cool and I do like their names. And I freaking out because I want Foster’s book. After we get to know him in this book you really want his story, but what makes it even worse is the end of this book. You will understand what I’m saying.

4.5 star The story has laughs, pain, murder, secrets, suspense, love, and heartbreak. If you have not read the below I would recommend reading those books(s) first Center Mass (Code 11-KPD Swat) Double Tap (Code 11- KPD SWAT #2) Bang Switch (Code 11-KPD Swat #3) This is Mercy and Miller’s story. After a horrific ordeal that the public witnessed Miller saves Mercy and takes care of her. Mercy is trying to move on with her life but she struggles. Miller being around her helps. The more Mercy asks of Miller the more he gives. But is she using him or is it real? As bad things start happening all around Mercy she wonders just how bad she is for Miller. Is she a pet project for him? Can they make a relationship work when they met in such bad circumstances? The more they come together the more bad that pulls them down. Who is behind all the bad things happening to Mercy and will they be caught? Will Miller be able to save Mercy or will she have to save herself? Who will get caught in the takedown? Will they ever be the same again? I loved these characters and also the side characters. I felt I was able to connect with the characters and the story was a great read. I highly recommend this book and can’t wait for the next story from this author.
