Overview

Book 2 in the JUST BREATHE Trilogy

WARNING: This book contains graphic language, sex, and violence. NOT SUITABLE FOR READERS UNDER THE AGE OF 18.

Her dreams brought them together, but reality could tear them apart...

The man of Zoe Morgan's dreams isn't only real, he's interested. In her. But her boss wants her too, and is leveraging his unsolicited advances with the threat of blocking the huge promotion she's after. When he places a spy on her research team, the intense stranger discovers more than he should, and Zoe fears hiding a relationship with Gavin Cassidy from her boss is the least of her worries. The whale she must protect has been marked for death, and Zoe's old enemy Scarlet is eager to deliver the killing blow. To both of them.

Australia's Sentinels must find and lock the door into the Dreaming before Fyre Elementals launch another attack on innocent dreamers. But corruption and distrust abound, and Gavin believes someone on the Sentinel council is in league with the Fyres. As he reluctantly embraces his new role as council leader, Gavin must not only keep Zoe safe from Scarlet's vengeful clutches, but organize a Sentinel defense strong enough to prevent a full-blown Elemental war--with a traitor fighting by his side.

*The author will donate all profits from the sale of the JUST BREATHE trilogy to programs that educate people about whales and the challenges they face.

Meet the Author

Kendall Grey, word wrangler, whale warrior, wicked wench, and lover of tongue-tripping alliteration, was born without an off-switch between her brain and mouth. She's been called the "Flux Capacitor of Twitter" and "A little package of love all wrapped up in F-word paper," but she's really just a maniacal writer relaying eyewitness accounts of the rave inside her head. She writes urban fantasy with strong romantic elements and also dabbles in erotica and horror on occasion.

Kendall lives off a dirt road near Atlanta, Georgia, but don't hold that against her.

This book was great! Such a unique story, loved Gavin and Zoe! Can't wait to see what becomes of them in the third book. I am really hoping the third book comes out soon. The end of the second book kind of leaves you hanging and wanting more

    Turn Off Your TV!!!

Don't even think about turning that dumb box on. Click on Buy This and be prepared to have your soul warmed, your heart raced, and your eyes flowing with tears. This book delivers that and more. JUST STOP by Disturbed. The build of this song to the hook, and the freedom of soul the hook gives you is just like what this book does. It builds and builds until you think your going to explode......then freedom.

Thank you Kendall Grey, your on my short list of favorites.

    I LOVE THIS SERIES!!!

For those of you that like a really original story line in the fantasy department with great romance, HOT and steamy bedroom scenes, and lots of excitement, this is the series for you. This is the second book. Please read Inhale first, and then this, to be followed by Just Breath. This series is definitely not for anyone under 18 years old!!!!!!!!!

Kendall Grey has fast become one of my favorite authors. The story she has woven here is absolutely amazing. Her character development has been amazing. I cannot wait to start the third book.

Also, if you haven't read the short stories (the ephemera series) you should try those out also. They give a little insight to some of the characters and they are great stories also. They, however, are also not for anyone under 18 years old. Hope you all enjoy as much as I have.

Yep...mind is officially blown by this one. First off though....18+ material in the entire series (just in case anyone missed that.)

After reading this a 2nd time (going back to that mind blown comment) holy freaking hell. January cannot get here soon enough. New stuff that wasn't covered in the first book that I REALLY want to read more about: the Librus group, the whales as Lily's entourage, & Sinnder! (Okay, Sinnder's not new, but need lots more info. on his story.)

Didn't get as much of The Dreaming in this second novel, but Zoe & Gavin get to know each other through the school of hard knocks that is Realis & that pretty much makes up for it. Scarlet needs to have a very creepy ending. Seriously. I'm not big on making baddies suffer unnecessarily, but she's a whole new brand of crazy psychotic hose beast & really needs to go out with a bang.

Thanks so much for making this series Kendall Grey...I'm enjoying it a bit too much, but it's all for a good cause ;-)

    Awe struck

I read Inhale and loved it. I had to read Exhale and did. This book is even better than the first. Zoe and Gavin continue their quest to be together. There are so many different emotions you'll pass through. This book will make your heart soar, your pulse pound, and you'll cry. Cant wait for the third book. Absolutely awesome!!!

P.S. the whales will win your heart.

    ...Oh rudy...

Kendall really knows how to get you hooked without trying! Inhale grabbed my attention instantly but this One kept it throughout! Once again I was sucked into this magical world of deep sea leviathans with a secret! I totally enjoyed this book except for the last 1/4 of the book, then junk gets R.E.A.L. You need tissues, and a shrink on standby to finish! *sniffle*

This is such a gorgeous series. From the covers to the very last

This is such a gorgeous series. From the covers to the very last sentence, this series has me captivated. After the first book, Inhale, I was worried how Zoe and Gavin would make it in the real world. Their relationship certainly faces many trials.

I have to say that Zoe got on my nerves at the beginning of the book. I love her, so that's what it was so irritating to me. So, I called on my pal Andrea to reassure me that Zoe finds her way. I really hate doing that, but my stomach was in knots. Gavin is just so attentive to her and really tries hard to win her over, so I hurt for him. Her resistance was understandable. Truly, I get it. I would certainly be hesitant to get involved with a rock star. Not to mention her issue with their age difference or the fact that he's a Sentinel. In a perfect fantasy world though, I would literally jump Gavin and never let go.

Slutty Scarlet is back on the prowl, creating chaos once again. I have seriously never hated a character more than I hate her. I really didn't think it was possible to like her less, but she does it. I can't wait to see her demise.

We get to see a little more of Sinnder in this book. I love him. I mean, he's not really a good guy, but I think there is going to be a big story there. Sinnder is dark, gritty, and incredibly sexy. He's definitely more than meets the eye. I have Stifle, which is a feature of Sinnder and I've heard incredible things about it. I can't wait to read it.

More questions are answers and mysteries revealed in this installment of the Just Breathe Trilogy. The ending left me in tears. I stayed up until the wee hours of the morning to finish it. It's the type of story that you can't put down. You HAVE to know what is going to happen next. Kendall Grey has such a creative mind and clearly draws a picture with her words.

If you are looking for a steamy read that is not only imaginitive, but tells a wonderful story of life, love, friendship, salvation, and balance, this is a great book for you. Even if you aren't a fan of Urban Fantasy, you should test this one out. It's truly a fantastic story and I can't wait for the final book, Just Breathe, to release! HURRY UP KENDALL!

Intensely Exhilarating! When I finished Exhale, my mouth opened

    Intensely Exhilarating!

When I finished Exhale, my mouth opened and, well, I actually exhaled! I'm pretty sure I held my breath during the last few pages! If you've read the first book, then you'll be glad to learn that Exhale starts where Inhale ended. Unlike the first book, more of the story takes place in Realis. Gavin is so smitten with Zoe, but she just can't fathom the idea of a rock star falling for her, a whale biologist! Surely, having a real-life relationship with Gavin would interfere with her research and distract her from pursuing her dream job. Good thing Gavin doesn't think so! We get to meet a few new characters, who add so much to the amazing storyline. The whales have a greater presence too. Yes, for those who are wondering, Lily is very much in Exhale, and she's woven so well into the story.

Scarlet returns, and she's very jealous of Zoe. She was so bad in the last book, but in this one she's evil to the tenth power and relentless in her pursuit of Gavin. There were some really shocking moments with Scarlet that I won't even try to describe. Kendall Grey knows how to develop her characters, and Scarlet is definitely worthy of winning a best villain contest hands down! Then there is Sinnder. I get the feeling he's been working on his own agenda all along. He's one to watch in the next book for sure!

Zoe Morgan has got to be one of my favorite strong heroines. She has a connection to whales like no other, and there are some revelations as to why she has this gift. Always focused on her career, I kept wanting to knock some sense into her every time she turned Gavin down. Hello, Zoe, Mr. Perfect from your dreams is real, and he very much wants you! Eventually she gives in and these two together, either in The Dreaming or Realis, sizzle off the pages! It's not all happy though for this couple, they run into problems and struggle at finding time for one another. Plus, they keep getting interrupted during intimate moments! Oh my goodness, the unresolved sexual tension is off the charts!!! Nonetheless, the way their relationship progresses in Realis seems very real for a biologist and rock star. This brings me to Gavin *insert dreamy sigh here* Cassidy. If you fell for him in the first book like I did, then he will melt you into a puddle of goo in this one for sure! Gavin is way more than a rock star. He wants to protect Zoe from any harm, defend the Wyldlings, and takes his Sentinel duties very seriously. He does all that and writes music and performs at concerts too! I think Gavin has become my number one favorite fictional rock star! I can't help it. I just love how he's written! It's no wonder Scarlet wants him so badly, but his heart belongs to Zoe, his muse.

Intense, exhilarating, shocking, and heart-wrenching, Exhale is truly a worthy sequel to Inhale and shows that Kendall Grey can push her characters way beyond limits. Please do read this series in order. The world building displays expertise and is beautifully executed. I don't even want to speculate what will happen next. After reading Exhale, it opens up a world of possibilities for the third book, Just Breathe. The bar is set high. I really can't wait!!!

Inhale. Exhale. Just Breathe… Exhale, the second instal

    Inhale. Exhale. Just Breathe…

Exhale, the second installment of the Just Breathe Trilogy, kicks off exactly where Inhale left off. Ahhh, Inhale. Inhale left me so happy and full of hope. Gavin and Zoe had finally met in Realis and everything was right with the world… except for the crazy Fyres. Together Gavin and Zoe would conquer the world. Zoe is one tough cookie and Gavin is trying to be one, they would accomplish anything, together. :-)

    So. Much. Hope.

There’s none of that in Exhale!

Gavin is set on protecting Zoe in Realis as well as in the Dreaming. Zoe is set on rejecting Gavin. Gavin meets a new instructor who teaches him some new tricks. (NICE) The Fyres are still whackadoo causing havoc in Australia, and all the other elements are out of sync because of it. Lastly, the elementals don't see eye to eye on anything. Not with one another within their own faction and not with any others in other factions. Sinnder is being Sinnder, dripping with mystery even when he’s revealing his history. Scarlet is being Scarlet (she is one crazy chica!). It’s a hot mess.

I cannot begin to explain the whirlwind of emotions that went through me while reading this book. I truly LOVE this series!

In Inhale, I found many people talking up Gavin. I thought he was cool but honestly Zoe was the IT person for me. She was a strong character who fought hard to be in the position she was in professionally. She had to overcome genetic obstacles to do this. She also had to overcome emotional and mental abuse inflicted by her mother. She acknowledged her weakness but never gave it power. This was not the same Zoe in Exhale. In Exhale, Zoe is too career focused using this as an excuse to reject Gavin when in reality the rejection was due to her insecurities (age being a big one). I was frustrated and wanted to kick her. Yes, I did.

GAVIN! Inhale was all Zoe whereas Exhale was all Gavin. OMG! I LOVE GAVIN. From the very first page to the very last page I LOVED GAVIN. He was just that great. Talk about a man that doesn’t give up and tries and tries and tries. Love is not easy, it takes work and he understood this well. THAT made him sexy to me. I was so fascinated I wanted to kiss him. Yes, I did.

Exhale was mostly about these two coming together to create the most beautiful whale song ever… Does it happen? I’m not telling. We do find out some very important things along the way which leads me to a very important trait…

Is this series sexy? Yes. Is it hot? Yes. However, this is not the most important aspect to me. The most important aspect is that there is a story being told. There is something of substance here and never superficial. You can’t imagine how much research the author had to do to make this world come alive. There is a lot of spiritual and cultural information included in this series. There is a twist that is revealed in the book that I wasn’t expecting because honestly I didn’t think the author knew about this connection. BUT SHE DID and that was such a wonderful surprise.

    This series is crazy good!

Incredible world building. Strong and well developed characters. The details. The twists! The words! My, oh my, those colorful words. Kendall Grey has a talent for words like no one else I’ve read. This chick can write! More impressive though is that she writes what she wants to write. She dictates what happens in this world, and if Twitter is any indication, in her own world too. Her personality shines bright throughout this series. I just love that.

I CANNOT WAIT FOR JUST BREATHE.

ARC provided by the author for an honest review.

Boy that would have fed her fire (read it, you'll get it). This was so much more than just a connection between two characters though. The overarching plot got thicker and honestly I'm not sure how she's going to finish this thing but you can bet your boots I'll be there to read it when it comes out. In the meantime I might have to reread this one because I'm sure I missed things. The storytelling is so intricate and her characters all so multifaceted it isn't always easy to love or hate them. They're real and yet this is fantasy. Right?

Exhale, by Kendall Grey, takes the series to a whole new level.

Exhale, by Kendall Grey, takes the series to a whole new level. I thoroughly enjoyed book one, Inhale, and was eager to get to this book, but my goodness my heart’s still having palpitations at how much I loved this book.

The main protagonist Zoe is such a wonderful character. She has such believable and frustrating characteristics, that’s she’s impossible not to like. Throw into the mix the continuation of the relationship development with Gavin and what we are left with is a bloody fantastic read.

Grey successfully introduces new characters and develops minor characters. These inclusions help to push the story forward at a phenomenally fast speed. Too fast at times, I wanted it to slow down as I was scared to finish it. Yes, it was that good.

The equal mix of tension, drama and hot romance, makes this book a must-read!

    Outstanding

Heartpounding 2nd book that is hard to put down. Pulled into the intense emotions between zoe& gavin. Loved the beauty of zoe's magical connection with the whales & the ocean. Heartbreaking at times, as the whales, humans, & zoe's& gavin's fragile bond is constantly threatened. There are quite a few moments that will rip your heart out.

Welcome to book two! You've made it through book one. At least that's why you're reading this review right? Ok you are now affiliated with the characters and a bit of the story but now comes the depth that you have been striving for. The story thickens and the characters get hotter.Gavin and Zoe's relationship will develop through this book and you are going to love their interactions. The side characters are interesting and fantastic all in their own way as well. Be prepared for another fantastic portion of this story. Keep going you can do it! Make this book yours!

    I Also Recommend:

A review copy was provided for an honest review. Kendall Grey on

A review copy was provided for an honest review. Kendall Grey once again outdoes herself with her writing. Exhale is amped up in every way making the romance steamier, the violence greater, and the ability to put this book down harder! Zoe and Gavin's story gets even more complex with wildly shocking twists that will keep you on the brink of your seat. Every time I told myself to read just one more page it ended up becoming 5 more chapters, it was un-put-downable! I really enjoyed this book so much and felt it had stepped up its game further. Unlike Inhale (A Just Breathe Novel) which spends a lot of time in the Dreaming, Exhale is mostly set in Realis which is exciting, and again, a refreshing change of pace. Kendall Grey knows how to hold people's interest with her words and she keeps readers turning the pages! Exhale captures minds with smoothly flowing sentences and its fascinatingly compelling deliverance of this imaginatively clever story.

Picking up from the moment Inhale left off Exhale jumps right in and places you in Gavin Cassidy's mind. Tensions are running high as Gavin and Zoe try to make things work in Realis. Which is much more difficult since the delusional and deadly Fyre Scarlet is hot on their tails. She'll stop at nothing to make sure they don't get their happy ending. But more problems surface when Gavin is unexpectedly chosen to be leader of the Sentinel council. All the while the Fyre Elementals are creating even more chaos in the Dreaming every second the door isn't found. Zoe's boss is holding the promotion she's worked her whole career to achieve over her head. And once Randy stops breathing down her neck he sends someone new to work for her crew and Iri isn't who he appears to be...

In this sequel their is a lot going on and it has a surprise ending that will leave you absolutely hooked. The writing is once again excellent, the characters are beautifully fleshed out, the plot is insanely good and unpredictable, and the building romance is downright hot. Whales still play a significant role in Exhale and continues to show the brilliance of these creatures. The antagonist Scarlet is all kinds of levels of crazy and she's willing to do whatever it takes to get Gavin. It's twistedly entertaining to watch her character get even more dangerous as she plots her revenge. Zoe Morgan is brave and intelligent as ever—I absolutely love her character! Gavin is well—Gavin—smoking hot, with sexy tattoos, badass Sentinel abilities, a cocky attitude, and tons of Australian charm. I couldn't get enough of Zoe and Gavin's relationship - it's complicated, emotionally overwhelming, and a whole lot of hot. Prepare to ride the waves of emotion in this fantastic sequel!!

    On the fence...

The book was good and bad. I know, this doesn't make sense but hang on. It was long and had a lot of parts that dragged and I skipped through. BUT then it picked back up. Then slowed way down again. It took me 5 days to read this because I kept putting it down. As much as I want to find out what happens with Zoe, Gavin, Jack, and Lily, I dont think I can sit through another book.

Right, so remember my struggles to get through Inhale? Gone. This book sucked me in from page one, and didn't let me stop, even when I finished. I jumped online to find out more about this series, the author, and whatever else I could find. Miss Grey, THIS BOOK is the reason I am now obsessed with your series and you characters. In case you were wondering when that happened. :-)

It picks up right at the end of Inhale, with Zoe and Gavin really meeting for the first time in Realis (the real world). And you think that, now that Zoe has a better idea of what is going on, they will hit it off right away and jump into bed together right? Well, not so much. Which KILLED me. I wanted them to be happy and together from the get go, more so than I want most couples to be together and happy. I don't know what it is about these two. Maybe it's because Zoe is more my age (30's) and Gavin is where I will always think of myself (early 20's) and that is an unusual age difference. Maybe it is because they have both had such a rough time, in different ways. Maybe it is because I know in my heart they are exactly what the other needs to heal.

This whole book was an emotional roller-coaster. I laughed, I cried, I screamed, I sobbed like a little girl, then I laughed some more. There were also lots of sexy times, which you know I like. ;-)

I really don't know what else I can say about this book; this whole story, without giving things away. It is so well written that I lost myself in the world, and now must visit Australia before I die, in hopes that I can meet my own Gavin. ;-) (Sorry honey, he's an Australian Rock Star) And of course go whale watching.

The way Exhale ended leaves me anxiously awaiting the third & final book, Just Breathe. I need some closure. I need to know what happens next. I need that book right now dammit!
