Editorial Reviews

From Barnes & Noble
In the 14th installment of Kathryn Lasky's popular Guardian of Ga'Hoole series, the Band are accused of treason, sent into exile, and ultimately forced to disperse. For their own safety and the survival of their king and the Great Ga'Hoole Tree, they must devise a plan to neutralize this new tyranny.
Children's Literature - Laura J. Brown
This is the fourteenth book in the "Guardians of Ga'Hoole" series. The Harvest Festival is soon, and everyone one is excited about the upcoming celebration. Everyone, that is, except for a welcomed newcomer to the tree who believes that the tradition is pure vanity and that vanity will lead to destruction. Striga, the newcomer, is the founder of the Blue Feather Club aimed at coaxing young owls to rid themselves of their vanities early. The counselor to Coryn, who feels indebted to Striga for his help, has adopted his philosophy. Coryn convinces Otulissa and the others to conduct a wind experiment instead of celebrating the Harvest Festival due to Striga's influence. Not everyone is happy about all the changes that Striga has brought to their tree; some worry that Striga has too much power over Coryn. Soon, Striga's true intentions become clear. But is it too late? What do owls do when they are forced from their tree? Can they ever go back? You must read this action-filled book to find out. This latest book is not the place to start reading the series because there are so many characters and relationships that a new reader will not truly understand. The vocabulary may be a bit difficult for reluctant readers in grades three through six. Reviewer: Laura J. Brown

This book is filled action, suspense, and vivid descriptions that fill you with horror (in a good way)! I don't have the words to describe it! The greatest part is when, well, you'll just have to read to find out!! Sadly, this is the 14th book. So, you peeps that haven't started yet are gonna have to read the rest of the series! Once I started reading these books, I needed to spread the word! I got my dad, my friend Maddie, and my boyfriend hooked like me. What I loved about these books is that Katheryn Lasky wasn't afraid to tell the reader that someone died. The battles were fasinating. And this book, above all, is not predictable. I know that some people hate when a book is predictable. I hope you enjoy this book!

    Suspenseful, exciting, shocking

I liked this book, though it is not one of my favorites in the series. I thought that the ending was sort of unsatisfying. I would recommend it to anyone who likes the Ga'hoole series. This is a good book overall.
