    Not for everyone.

This book is written for those who are either in the military and/or the corporate world were their expatriation is based on, and handled by, their employer. The most difficult part of expatriating is learning about and obtaining the necessary residency permits and/or work visas. Since military and corporate expatriates don't need to deal with these issues, this book does NOT cover them.

This book also assumes that you will be returning to the U.S. eventually. And it is filled with painfully obvious advice such as finding fellow Americans in your new country to help you with the transition and that, if the primary language in your new country is something other than English, you should study your new country's language to make your stay there better.

If you are making a military move or your company is sending you overseas AND YOU STILL need more hand holding than these organizations are giving you - than this book may be of some help. Otherwise, there are much better resources available.
