When I first saw these books, my immediate reaction was, "why has it taken so long for someone to come up with this?" I think there's been a real need for these books for quite a while. .these guides will add a lot to your hikes and to your planning. I highly recommend them.

Great source of information before hiking the AT or following someone else's hike

This is one of a series of 5 different books that cover the entire AT.

I used these books to follow the details of my son's thru hike and the books made following his hike very enjoyable.

Also, I was able to purchase "used books" and found them to be in very good condition.

Exploring the Appalachian Trail: Hikes in Southern New England - Connecticut, Massachusetts, Vermont

I have recently purchased all 5 of this valuable series. The topographical maps, and trail profiles have led me on fascinating hikes through the Appalachian trails. There have been aspects of the trail I would not have known about if I didn't purchase this series! Five stars to this best seller!
