Overview

Book One in the bestselling Iron Horse MC series

Before I met Smoke I'd never been kissed, really kissed, by a man, let alone a biker sex god bent on taking my virginity and my heart. I got dragged into the deadly world of the Iron Horse MC by my crazy twin sister who is engaged to the club's President and even crazier mom who only cares about herself. Smoke has been assigned by the club to keep me safe even though he's everything that I should be afraid of.

He's the kind of man who lives by his own rules and does whatever he wants whenever he wants, but he treats me like I'm something rare and precious, not a socially dysfunctional basket case who has no idea how to love, but needs him more than her next breath.

Not that my feelings matter, because if we don't find my mother soon, the only thing I'll have to be worried about is who is going to kill me first.

4 star I was pulled right into this story. The story has laughs, kidnapping, suspense and heartbreak. This is the first part of Swan and Smoke’s story. Smoke was sent to keep an eye on Swan. He is tracking her and reporting back to his club’s President. When she gets kidnapped they get her back and bring her to the club to protect her. As they learn more about her she learns that the club President is her twin sister’s man. Smoke is totally taken with Swan. He wants her bad. She is borderline autistic and was raised by her father in a compound. Her father is a survivalist and has taught her everything he knows. She hates when people touch her. She is totally into porn and watches it all the time which surprised Smoke as he knows she is a virgin. They have a ton of chemistry. She does learn how Smoke gets his name but does not seem disgusted with it. She knows he will kill for her if he has to. Can they find her mother and get rid of the bounty off her head? I was able to connect with the characters and the story was a great read. I recommend this book and can’t wait for the next story from this author.

Swan had been put through survival tests since the age of eight by her father. Because of this Swan doesn’t like to be touched and is afraid of strangers and she can definitely protect herself. Smoke is an ex marine and now sergeant of arms at the Iron Horses MC. Smoke is deadly and has a quick temper. But not when Swan is around he is very tender and gentle with Swan. Smoke is also possessive and dominate and a player basically a bad man until he sees Swan. Swan is a twenty year old virgin, very intelligent yet naive, Swan had a very military type upbringing and has no real social skills but can get mouthy as all get out. There was an intense chemistry between Swan and Smoke. Their mother [ swan and her twin sister Sarah. Smoke had been watching Swan per orders Swan’s mother got in trouble by stealing and left the two girls in trouble. Swan’s twin Sarah hooked up with a biker who was the president of the Iron Horses and that is why Smoke has been watching Swan. Sarah is the opposite of Swan completely reckless and that is why she ended up with Beach. Smoke finds that Swan is every thing he has wanted and never had. He’s happy to be protecting her. Sarah calls to meet Swan and she agrees but is kidnapped Sarah is taken also. Smoke gets Swan back but is determined to keep her at his side and keep her safe. Then after Sarah is back Smoke is determined to find the girls mom so they will both be safe. I really liked this story but first and foremost thing i dislike in stories is cliffhangers and this had one. I felt the plot was a little messed up at times also. But I still enjoyed the story probably would have been a five otherwise. I loved the characters and I liked most of the twists and turns in this story. I received an ARC of this story for an honest review.

2,75 STARS Hmm, not sure what to say about this story. It wasn't bad but it also wasn't great. Maybe I wasn't in the right mood to read it or something. I loved the start (somehow) but after that I slowly started to lose my interest in the plot. The story starts in Smoke's POV and I loved that. We can really see his obsession with Swan. Basically he becomes her stalker, since her dear bit** of a mother stole from his Iron Horse MC and now it's on him to track down her mother and her also missing twin sister before their enemies get to them. And of course Swan just might be the key to accomplishing that mission. I wished we got more than just the first and last chapter in his POV. Sometimes it would have really helped to know what was going through his mind. I think because of that I at first didn't really buy his love for Swan but in the end there was no doubt that his feelings for her were genuine. He had his a**holish moments but more times than not he was super protective and possessive of her, which made me forgive him (if only a bit) for being an a** and a huge manwhore. The rest of the story is then being told by Swan. I have to say that I quite liked her at the beginning. She dealed with life as best as she could and for that I respected her. Growing up with her father was insanely rough, since he put her though surviving tests constantly from age eight. I guess all that hard training in the end did paid off. She doesn't like to be touched and she now has the skill to protect herself from unwanted 'affections'. I also loved her sassiness, she definitely knew how to use it. But by the end I felt that she lost some of her sassy personality and became more tame. It's like Smoke's touch was magic and therefore it was OK to simply instantly forgive him for any s*** he pulled. So that irked me a lot in this book. The only saving grace were the sexy scenes. There were many, like, MANY! So, that made me feel a bit better. The biggest problem I had with this story was the plot. While I'm all for the romance and the development of the main characters relationship, I in no way want to read just about that! To be honest, there really wasn't much plot in this book. I kid you not! We get no closer to answers about what happened to her mom and sister. It's like watching a dog waiting for someone to throw him a bone that never comes! And that left me feeling really disappointed. And since this is the first book of Iron Horse MC series, I can only assume that we will get some of the answers in second book. In the end, this is a great read if you want a lot of romance and sex but not such a great read, if you also want to get some plot answers. But, hey, just because I didn't like the story much, doesn't mean that you won't love it. If you like the blurb, then give it a go. Safety-gang: Not really safe. There is SPOILER constant OW drama END SPOILER

Lots of drama and suspense in this MC book. I found the characters interesting but a bit odd as well. The story held my interest throughout and has plenty of steam. I really liked it.

This is one fantastic book! Very well writen and the imagery is so real, you will feel like you are there in the book with them. The lead man, Smoke, is hot enough to set your ereader on fire and the lead lady, Swan, is just as amazing! I have never read a book by this writer before this one - however, if this is any indication of thier work I will be a fan from now on. This is the first part of Smoke and Swan's story.... But have no fear! This is book is an almost 300 page story that is sure to get your brain cells fireing. Enjoy!

I don't even know where to begin. This story line is great. Smoke is smokin hot! Swan is beautiful and when Smoke sees her he is instantly mesmerized. When there starts to be threats against her life the Iron Horse MC steps in to protect her because her twin sister is engaged to the president of the MC and she's missing. The chemistry between Smoke and Swan is off the charts HOT! Feelings continue to grow between them and kept getting stronger and stronger. At times I cried and the suspense is so intense I found myself holding my breath. Even the secondary characters are such an essential part of this story. Beach is the president of the club. Hustler is also in the club and owns a pawn shop . He hires Swan to get is books figured out because the last girl was stealing. I highly recommend this book to everyone. It really touched my heart how much Smoke the big bad alpha biker is helplessly and hopelessly head over heals in love with Swan. The intrigue kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time.

Confession time from yours truly. I didn’t get what all the hoopla was about regarding motorcycle heroes. I could see a glimmer of the appeal but I just didn’t get it. Then I read Exquisite Trouble. I now get it entirely. If you are looking for an uber Alpha male with one heck of a dirty mouth and loyalty to anything he considers his then Smoke aka Miguel is the hero for you. This character was so well layered it was like an onion. Every time I thought I’d gotten to the last layer there was yet another one that I uncovered. Smoke just gripped me from the very first paragraph and wouldn’t let go. And what a ride it was. Now Swan or Sue Wanda Anderson is such an intriguing heroine. She has so many character quirks and yet they are all believable and add weight to her behavior through out the entire story. The fact that she can’t be touched without feeling like her skin is crawling with insects was an interesting way of clearly demonstrating her growing trust in individuals that appear through out this story. Her reactions to being kidnapped by singing Britney Spears poorly is such an odd ball thing to do but easily demonstrates that she prefers to face challenges head on rather than sit and be rescued. There are so many different stories being told in this book that there were moments I was lost in Ms. Mayburns’ world so deeply that I was startled out of it abruptly when a motorcycle roared in my neighborhood. But I longed to know more not just about Smoke and Swan but a number of the other characters from the Iron Horse Motorcycle Club. I’m hopeful we shall see additional stories regarding Hustler or Vance eventually. Suspense is a key ingredient in this story and Ms. Mayburn wields it like a true master. Weaving just enough action through out the story to keep the blood pumping but never enough to make me put the book down in order to calm down. Every thing from experiences Swan lived through as a child to current events surrounding her birth mother and sister play a staring role in the amazing back story to this unique character. I am pleased beyond belief that we will be on the receiving end of more of this story in the fall because I was a smidge stunned when I turned the final page and realized that there was no more story. This is Part One of a Two Part book but you will get what Ms. Mayburn describes as a “Happy for Now” ending which is very true but I just wanted more. Now some of you may not enjoy a BDSM romance book, so please be aware that there are definitely elements of that in this book but it truly adds dimension and realness to the entire story. Plus the addition makes this book a perfect book to read with a great glass of wine or while you are relaxing on a much deserved holiday. I would be very cautious if you try to read this one during your lunch hour. You might not want to go back to work. You have been warned. *grins* Final Thoughts: I recently said on social media that Katy Evan’s Remy changed my mind about Fighters making amazing heroes and Smoke has made me a believer in motorcycle heroes too. Plus if you have tried out other work by Ms. Mayburn, you know she has a real gift of storytelling and this is a great example of her work. This is a great addition to some other amazing books out this year. Well worth the 5 stars I’m giving it. Fated Desires Publishing provided me with a copy of Exquisite Trouble but nothing else was exchanged for my honest review.
