I just stayed up far too late because I wanted to see how it ended. This is a really well done story and the action sequenced are vivid. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.

This is a pretty decent follow up to the first book. It's relativly fast paced and well written. Definately entertaining and well worth the money. If you want a good sci fi romp then this is a book for you. In this book we get to see a new world. In my personal opinion this is where the book fell short. I think the author took the easy way out with the new alien species. I won't go into details but I think that more could have been done with what was presented to the reader. The author has an entire new civilization to explore and he basically ignores it. The other part that I didn't really like was the pacing. The book is about 330 pages long and we don't lift off into space until about halfway through, maybe more than halfway. I thought that was a little wasteful considereing this entire new star system that was created. But, other than that I'd say it was a great read.

It started kind of slow but picked up speed and kept gaining. The characters are easy to like and you want to pull for them. If you've read the first book, Swarm, and liked it then I'm sure you will like this one as well. I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series to see how Kyle and the human race deal with the Macros.

This series rocks. I cannot understand why the book was so cheap. The concept is original, the military anvd programming well done and even the interaction with the girl friend is good. I am going to reread the first in the series.I wonder how long before the next release.

Do not judge the book by the price tag. It ranks among the top sci-fi books that I have read. I finished this 2nd one in 2 days and I'm already trying to find info on when the 3rd is coming.
The MECH series is also great but if I had a choice I would definitely rather see the 3rd in this series.

I have yet to read Mech, but after the first two Star Force novels, I'm excited to get around to it. B.V. Larson continues to impress me. The sequel to the excellent Swarm is great - action-packed, well-written, really interesting, and (most impressively, to me anyway) pretty different from the first novel in terms of plot, setting, and pace despite being a direct sequel. It shows that Larson has a little bit of range and is willing to change things up rather than recycling the same material over and over again (see Jack Campbell's Lost Fleet for the opposite of this).
It's not the most philosophically deep or challenging science fiction out there, but those looking for a fun military sci-fi diversion should look no further.
