The authors have done a marvelous deed in bringing the opportunity for people to read actual newspaper articles published exactly before and after the horrible sinking took place. When I first bought this book, I was astounded at the many pictures I saw and articles I read, particularly of the tragic cases of women losing their husbands, who had to stay behind, or even worse: those women (especially in third class, who had very little hope of escape) who perished in the sinking. I can say that this compilation of newspaper articles is very moving, because you feel the heavy sentiments and emotions that were flowing through the world during this awful period of time in 1912. I was also quite moved by the myriad of cases of heroic deeds done by many who survived and perished, particularly of the actions of one plucky countess, who demonstrated selfless love in the face of mortal danger.
This book was great for people who didn't live in the era that this accident had occured to be able to read the articles that the people lived in that time were able to read.
