Meet the Author

From the small town of Reidsville, and now from Raleigh, North Carolina, William Stadler enjoys writing novels, specifically in the epic fantasy genre where heroes and villains come to life.

I wrote short stories in sixth grade, and my teacher used to give us six or seven lines to fill in. I'd use those seven lines, and then I'd turn the sheet over and fill up half of the back. After that, I didn't write extensively again for over fifteen years (except for a poetry phase).

But then something crazy happened. Steve Jobs passed away. I'm not typically shaken by the death of a celebrity, but Steve Job's death really got to me. I started reading some of his quotes, and one said, "Set a goal, and work at it everyday."

Now I've heard that philosophy all my life, but something about that instance really got me thinking about what I truly enjoyed doing: writing. Steve Job's final words about working at your dream everyday materialized a writing passion within me. Because this has been so liberating, I have developed an inner desire to see people write.

Good story, lacks a focused timeline

The story is good, but the author spends more time jumping back an forth through the timeline than actually telling the story. It is very distracting and annoying when you do not have the time to read it all in one sitting. Explanation is all well and good, but 10 pages of story followed by 20 pages of backstory is really frustrating to someone who reads the book in 30 minute to an hour increments.

A little more focus on maintaining the story and less on the backstory would have made it a much better book, though its still worth a read. As is, the dizzying jumps forward and back in time make it a 3 out of 5 *s.

    Great book

Still reading as I don't have much time for reading since I am a single mom. This book I would not have normally read but I was showing a high school friend some support. This book from the beginning has kept me wondering what was going to happen next. Very imaginitive!! Keeps you on your toes! Hard to put down!
