Overview

Brilliant scientist and government operative Dr. Reagan "Ray" Brady should be dead. Instead, Ray has the perfect life, working for an ultra-secret division of DHS, watching for invasion by extraterrestrials and time travelers. This team includes his wife, Samantha Brady. The team's "mascot" is their one-year-old daughter, Abigail.

When a mysterious man shows up, leaving several dead, Ray's team confronts him in NYC, where the man leaps from the roof of a ten-story building - and vanishes in mid-air. Seconds later, Samantha sees video of the same man touring the Y-12 Plant in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. A genetic scientist disappears from his locked office. Gold and other items, including fissile material from Oak Ridge, are vanishing around the world.

Who is this man? What does he intend to do with all of the stolen wealth and dangerous material he has amassed? And can Ray and his team stop him?

Yet Another Travis S Taylor Book About Himself.

In a somewhat middling tradition of writing books whose main character is a projection of what Taylor would like to see himself be in a crisis, Extraction Point has definitely gone one too far. His string of characters with multiple advanced degrees and significant martial arts training was fun for Von Neuman's War and the Through the Looking Glass series', but he has ruined Extraction Point with an otherwise unusual lack of originality. What could have been a fantastic story with an interesting twist (if slightly lacking in baking time and proof reading) is seriously distracted from by his choice to use the same main character over and over with a different name. Overall I give Extraction Point 2 stars for a great idea gone somewhat awry.

Extraction apoint is a fast paced story that includes the lates

Extraction apoint is a fast paced story that includes the latest in scientific physics ideas. It is in the standard venu of a Super Secret organization and follows the James Bond style of fiction. It includes the Genius main character that is starting to be a main feature of his novels lately, though in this case I would have wished that the character was just a little more true to life. I did enjoy the story for its rolicking fast pace and the surprising twists that this novel held. The colaboration of Ms. Osborne and Taylor has produced a winner in my opinion. His other novels have been an enjoyable experience though most have not been available in the Nook Book format. I enjoy most novels for the scientific revelations included and the way they are presented and in this one I have enjoyed the usage of the "Brane" hypothysis I have read about in other scientific publications. The usage in this novel and the joint venture of both authors have produced some ideas and speculations that are worthwhile to see used. I do like "Doc" Taylor and wish to see more of his fiction based on the latest ideas.
