Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Nancy Garhan Attebury
Extraordinary is the word for what Roz Gordon did when she used 73 different kinds of transportation to travel over a thousand miles in England in 2006. Jumping on a pogo stick, riding a camel, a dog sled, walking on stilts, and getting a piggy back ride from her brother were some of her means of travel. Other interesting facts in this book include Oregonian Dan Price's 4,250 mile ride across the U.S. on a tricycle, the formation of the shape of Australia as made by 863 hot pink airbeds in the water near Sydney, Australia, and the painting of a panda on a single strand of human hair using only a single rabbit hair as a brush. This book is chock-full of unusual feats and is formatted to contain many entries per page which allows readers to read only portions of it at one time if they choose. It is from "The Remarkable...Revealed" series and it offers a plethora of statistics and facts about endeavors that readers will find hard to believe. As with other Ripley books, this one contains vivid photographs to go with the unusual facts. It may be noted that while Ripley's facts are checked and re-checked, an error is included when Oregonian Dan Price is called Dan Prince instead of his correct name. Reviewer: Nancy Garhan Attebury
