Editorial Reviews

School Library Journal

Use car wax for scratches on compact discs and ketchup to shine copper pots. This collection of tips and odd fixes is arranged alphabetically by ingredient or item. Under each topic is a list of what marvelous things you can do with that item that you would never have dreamed of. The text is chatty and informational, including boxes that give history or tips for a particular item or projects for kids and students. Some of this advice isn't new, reminiscent of Hints from Heloise. The detailed index can help you find the right solution for your problem. Fun and somewhat helpful; for larger collections.

    Very Useful!

I have this book in the "reading room". This is THE book that everyone picks up. They'll come out and say, "Did you know......" There are so many useful tips and it's unbelievable that it's all household products you already have in your house. Great book!

    Extraordinary Uses for Ordinary Things

The book is a great addition to anyone's library. It's handy to use, has a lot of useful, easy ideas for the home, and it's a go-to book if you need some ideas to remove a stain, relieve a mosquito bite itch, or just want to learn some helpful hints. I liked the book so well that I bought it for two of my friends. One of my friends used it the first evening she received it and she said it worked. What I like about the book is that most of the items that are used are products everyone already has on the shelf.

Very Useful everyday uses for common things you have around the house!

I tried several of these ideas and the ones I tried worked! Cleaning my glasstop stove with baking soda instead of the expensive glass top cleaner is a great savings. I will buy very few cleaning products in the future saving me money and hopefully saving a bit of the earth!
