Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Barbara Carroll Roberts
BMX—bicycle motocross—is a sport that many young daredevils find especially appealing. At first pass, the sport looks a lot like the biking they do around their own neighborhoods, particularly if their neighborhoods include some open lots with little hills or loose dirt that can be piled up to make jumps. These young thrill-seekers will certainly enjoy this look at the competitive BMX events featured in the X Games. The book gives a brief history and overview of BMX, the equipment required, and the different events that X Games riders train for. Like all the books in this "Extreme" series, this title features big, bright, action photographs on every page, adding to the book's appeal, especially for reluctant readers. Parents of young action lovers will be happy to see that all the riders pictured in this book are wearing helmets and other safety gear while performing their tricks and stunts. Back matter includes an index, a glossary, and suggestions for further research. Reviewer: Barbara Carroll Roberts
