Teresa Tomeo presents a fabulous argument for true Christian womanhood in this book. The subtitle ("Women transformed by Christ, not conformed to the culture") says it all. It should be the goal of every Christian to emulate Christ, but our modern-day culture presents an immense challenge when dealing with the compromises we feel we have to make to live both secular and religious lives. Tomeo, who has a background as a secular journalist who "reverted" to the Catholic faith, offers an honest look at the media today and how religious and moral topics are being presented negatively through television and movies. Through chapters on sexual morality, contraception, and self-image, Tomeo illustrates how society is being manipulated away from true Christian values and into unhappiness and sin. Her argument is that, by focusing on Catholic and Christian values, women can deepen their relationship with God and with themselves. Conforming to the culture can never yield the rewards that transformation by Christ can afford Christian believers, Tomeo says. Tomeo's style is bright, vibrant, and enjoyable. The book is a quick read, and is highly recommended for teenage girls and young adults.

This book was gifted to me and I have really enjoyed it. It is a thoughtful and intelligent perspective on how we can be women - Catholic Christian women! - in today's world.
