The Eye of the Condor is Patrick Carmichael¿s second novel set during the Inca Empire in Peru [the first was Inca Moon]. Although the book is historical fiction, the details of Inca society and culture are extremely accurate, reflecting the author¿s background as a professional archaeologist specializing in the Andean area. Eye of the Condor is a fast-paced story of an Inca woman of noble status who is exiled and forced to serve her arch-enemy in the quest to discover a legendary emerald located in what today is Ecuador. The motive behind this adventure is to secure an antidote for her brother who has been poisoned by her advisories. Carmichael brings the characters alive through their travels through the mountains, desert coast and the perilous waters of the Pacific Ocean. It is an exciting adventure that will appeal to readers who are interested in this genre. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback.
