Meet the Author

Larissa Ladd is a dreamer with insights fresh as the frost newly formed on the twig whose snap echoes through the moonlit forest.

Since as a child she discovered the storybook world of ghouls and goblins, she's been a devotee of the eerie, the supernatural, and all that raises the hairs on the back of the neck. Her spine still shivers with delight when she huddles fearfully in a darkling corner, enthralled in suspenseful tales from her favorite authors Dean Koontz, Stephen King, and John Saul.

Feast your eyes on the scintillating flashes of garish color dabbed forth from her pen.

Eye of the Coven, the first novella in the Eye of the Coven series by Larissa Ladd sets the tone with a fast pace, tension and conflict for the main character, Cherry. Cherry is a young powerful witch who is destined to lead her coven. Problem is, she doesn’t want to. She wants a “normal” life, or as normal a life as possible for someone like her. Devan, totally “normal” and totally clueless about witches and their powers, comes into her life, they fall in love quickly and foolishly, Cherry agrees to marry him, putting a bullseye on his back for possible coven retaliation. When Cherry is betrayed and attacked by the coven, she must make a decision, assume her role as coven leader or follow her heart. Larissa Ladd put a lot of action into this short, but good novella. Do I wish there were more in-depth world and character building? Yep, but that said, she has definitely conveyed what she wants the reader to feel with her clean writing style and hook at the end that left me wanting to know what would happen next in the battle of wills and power between the coven, Cherry and a surprise betrayer who is egging the coven on. Directed at YA readers who want conflict, romance and more conflict, but don’t have a lot of time to devote to reading, this is a good choice. I received my copy from Larissa Ladd in exchange for my honest review.

Drug out storyline. Could be a good story but it is very bland. The main character has no personality and 90% of the book is her thoughts, repeated thoughts at that and not so much dialogue. *Not reading second book.

This was a good book to read a real page turner. I was able to connect to the characters made me want to read the next book in the series.

This was a good start to a series. I would have given 5 stars had it been longer and had an ending. The story started great even with a papranormal approach, still sends the message every modern women can relate to, which is I will do things on my terms! Though everyone around Cherry tried to scare her or worse into doing what they want and what they knew was best, she went her own route and found her tiny slice of normalcy in a run down appartment with a normal human guy. The only other thing I wish there was something to the ending I know there is another book coming but I was left looking for the next page. I am excited to see where it goes in the 2nd book and hope it is a little longer!

Cherry Blake doesn't want the position of High Priestess despite her coven's High Priestess' demands otherwise. Cherry is the most powerful witch in the world yet the demands to being coven leader just don't interest her in the slightest. Cherry meets Devan only to truly discover what she's been missing from her life up until now. Devan brings light to her life where only before she was stumbling in the dark. The coven continues to demand Cherry take High Priestess position regardless of her wishes. Cherry's power to know other people's thoughts gives her an advantage over all of the coven. Will the coven leave Cherry alone? How important will Devan become? Will Cherry use her power? Your answers await you in Eye of the Coven. This could have been your typical power play but it's not. Cherry's only crime is that she wants an ordinary life something none of the coven understand. I liked Cherry's wishes not to harm the rest of her coven even with all of her power at her disposal. I would definitely read more of this author's work in the future.
