    John Ringo keeps a good thing going

    If you liked the eariler book in this series that you should love this one. The author has taken the characters from past books in this serries and brought them forward. He does a great job of story telling and is starting a new one all in the same book. The only thing I didn't like was the ending. If you have read the March Upcountry series you wiil understand what I mean. Still and all it is a book worth reading and I really did enjoy it.

    As the Posleen horde invade the Earth, Lieutenant General Michael O'Neal is shocked with the proof he has found that that the Machiavellian Darhel oligarchy of the Galactic Confederation has controlled humans like puppeteer with puppets; most humans are pleased with the arrangement. O'Neal considers a countermeasure, but his vaunted military unit is destroyed by the more powerful Galactic Fleet and he is arrested as an insurgent heading to Fleet Penal Facility after a rigged trial.

    However, the Hedren attack the Galactic Confederation putting it at risk of being conquered. The only person capable of a military counter attack is heading to prison. Darhel leader Tir Dal Ron must decide between freeing O'Neal to lead the human troops or watch his Confederation go down in flames; if he chooses his prisoner he must also find a way to persuade the general that saving the Darhel is the only way to save his species.

    The latest in the Human-Posleen saga (see A HYMN BEFORE BATTLE and SISTER TIME) is a terrific military science fiction thriller with social and political implications. LTG O'Neal struggles between the desire to overthrow the oligopoly and the knowledge people are satisfied with their lot. As always the battle scenes ring true and are great fun to follow. Although some key points set up in previous entries in the saga (helps to have read them though not absolutely critical) are flash-points instead of developed consequences of prior actions, fans will enjoy John Ringo's exciting return to his human-Posleen worlds as a new threat has arrived.

    O'Neal is Promoted

    If you're a fan of Ringo's you'll have to add this book to your long term collection. The book centers around a new threat to mankind and O'Neal's getting the "troops" back and ready to go.

    There's mutiny, intrigue, a bunch of laughs.

    The book reads like the first 2 chapters of a great novel. There will be more in the future, and you'll need this one. Think Kildar.

    If you think Posleen was bad news!....

    Apparently, there is some justice in the world, finally!

    We finally got General O'Neil in charge! That's right, our beloved Hero of the hour finally got "upper" hand on Darhel. Granted, what he and his "Clan" had to go through; demise of ACS and the fact that Earth and all known species are now in grave danger from new threats; was not piece of cake. And from what they discovered of new threat, it makes posleen like kindergarten bully.

    I can't wait to see how this will unfold in the future books.

    This was great. Buy it now. Seriously.

    Okay, I admit it's been a while since I read this, because I bought it the first day it hit the shelf. Yes, I'm a real Ringo fan. Maybe I'm prejudiced a bit in his favor but so what? The guy does great work. And it's not just me either - it's been really popular. So go buy it - it's one of those guaranteed great reads you hear about.

    What I was Looking for

    I found this book entertaining. This is the style of books i was expecting from John Ringo, and I'm glad that Mike is back and hopefully will remain on the center stage for the sequels

    New Direction, old story!

    Boldly going where revenue has never gone before, John Ringo re-engages his moneymaker drive by creating villians more dangerous, more insensitive and even uglier than the reptilian/equine foe in his Posleen War series.
    Populated by characters familiar to readers of books in the Posleen series, Eye of the Storm is equally populated by familiar plotlines and resolutions thereto. That isn't a bad thing, I'm just sayin'!.
    The first thing I read of Ringo's was Watch On The Rhine. I had nightmares about that book for several nights thereafter, which is something that had never happened in all my years of reading. That basic, primal fear is what is missing from this book. It is an ok book; you won't feel ripped off if you buy it. New readers will be intrigued enough to follow up with additional books to read. What you won't be is scared! It is rather like another of Ringo's protaganists had written a book, Belisarius.
