    I Also Recommend:

Remember pretty much everything I said about Ryland in my review

Remember pretty much everything I said about Ryland in my review of the first book? Yeah, scratch that. All of it. Okay, not all of it, but the part about being Joclyn’s true love. Yeah, that part.

That’s the only teaser you’re gonna get about this book, the rest will be my reactions. (Note: It is so freaking hard to write this review without spoilers, but I did it! However, if you’ve read this book and want to read my spoilers, go to my review on Goodreads.)

Okay. This book pretty much flipped around all of my pre-conceived notions of what was going to happen. No, not “flipped,” more like completely trashed them and then sent them hurtling at a wall and watched them crash into a million pieces. Seriously. I could not have expected what happened. Every time I thought I knew what was going to happen, the book threw me a curveball. It was like, “Surprise! Thought you knew what was gonna happen, now, didn’t you? WELL BOLLOCKS ON THAT.”

Like the previous book, the first part of this book was filled to the brim of brims with secrets. Secrets here, secrets there, oh look there’s another secret. Of course, they couldn’t be revealed until it “was time,” and Joclyn was “ready.” In other words, to make us be on the edge of our seats chewing our nails off with complete and total stress about what the heck they were keeping from Joclyn.

But, unlike the previous book, the action/suspense/frantic flipping of the pages didn’t start when the secrets were revealed. Noooo, it started way before that. Though there were secrets, there were also sweet moments, scary moments, terrifying moments, happy moments, Joclyn-kicks-ass moments, and Joclyn-is-being-stubborn moments. Joclyn did annoy me very few times, mostly when I felt she was just wallowing too much in her pool of pity and not focusing on what was truly important (like the SECRETS). But after said secrets were revealed, she gained focus somewhat. And then she was trapped. I won’t elaborate, but I did not see that coming. No way, no how. I’m awed at the author for having that happen and I cannot wait to see how Joclyn will get over what happened.

Ilyan. Oh, Ilyan. This sweet, handsome, amazing man is so patient and kind with Joclyn, and when SECRETS are revealed, it only makes me admire him more. (And also hurt for him. A lot.) Most times I felt like he doesn’t act like the king he is, more like just a man striving to protect a person he cares about. But I fell in love with him. He is kind, powerful, caring, sweet, patient, and so, so selfless. So selfless.

And then there’s Ryland. The Ryland we saw in the first book? Gone. Ryland made me hurt for other reasons. He tried so hard to fight it but life sucks and the author wants to torture us so that didn’t happen.

I really liked Dramin, by the way. I felt a sort-of grandfather vibe from him, though that’s not what he was. He was a great mentor and very wise—and I really enjoyed reading the scenes with him and Joclyn.

And then there’s Ovailia. I had the feeling she would be important from the first book, but I never imagined it would be in the way that it did. Once again, the author surprises me with her freaking fantastic (and frustrating) plot twists.

Oh, and the parallel between the first sentence and the last sentence in the book? BRILLIANT.

The plot, the magic, the bad-assery, the sweetness, EVERYTHING. I am quickly buying the next book in this series because I need to know what happens. I cannot wait for the plot twists that there are sure to be, though hopefully Joclyn will get to show more of her bad-assery. And then they all live happily ever after? (I doubt it, there’s another book after that!)

I recommend this book for everything I mentioned above, but mostly love. Though there’s heartbreak, there’s also love, and that’s the purest thing there is, isn’t it? (And action. There’s a lot of action.)

So amazing! I loved Eyes of Ember so much! Brilliant, just brilliant.

After the epic ending in Kiss of Fire, I was expecting a lot from this book. And it met every one of my expectations. It was so good, I can't
    even put it into words.

Joclyn does not have an easy time in this book. She is plagued by nightmares, heartbroken over the utter destruction of the man she
loved,  and facing danger at every turn. But, she handles it all with such strength. In this book, she learns how to use her power to fight
and defend herself and discovers the true extent of her powers. Despite her world being torn apart by Edmund LaRue, she was not
going to go down without one hell of a fight. If she was a good heroine in book 1, she was a total beast in book 2.

    Ilyan...
It was obvious in the blurb that he was going to become a love interest in this book. I was worried that I would end up not liking him
because of that. But, it took all of two pages for me to absolutely fall for him. He was so sweet. He was determined to protect Joclyn no
matter what and he did whatever he needed to do to take care of her. Even nurse her broken heart while he was falling for her. He was
so amazing. And, when we find out why he is so intent on protect Joclyn, it made me adore him even more. My heart ached for him as
he watched the woman he loved pine for another man-who happened to be his own brother. To say I adored him would be an
    understatement. He was just amazing.

Like in book 1, the romance in this book isn't always outwardly expressed by the character, who have a lot more on their plate to focus
on. But, the undercurrent is always there. While Joclyn hopes in vain for Ryland, her relationship with Ilyan develops. It was done
realistically. And it was so sweet. After this book, I hope that my couple gets to have their happy ending.

Ryland plays a very different role in this book. Joclyn wants to believe that her Ryland is still there, but he's been utterly destroyed. And
what little is left of him in his memories is being manipulated by Edmund to turn against Joclyn. Despite how many bad things he did,
I couldn't hate him for it because I felt so bad for who he used to be. He isn't really Ryland anymore, just a tool that his father uses to
hurt Joclyn. I hope that he gets to have peace in some way.

The plot of this book was spread over months of time. Most of which was Joclyn in hiding or trying  But, it never went slow. There were
always thrills as Joclyn battled her enemies, either in real life or in her head. The revelations in this book were jaw dropping. So many
secrets were revealed that it took me a while to wrap my head around it all. And that ending was even more epic than the ending of
book 1. Talk about game changer. The ending completely upended everything. I'm so anxious to find out what happens next. Fingers
crossed that these poor characters get to have a happy ending.

Eyes of Ember was so amazing! I can't even put into words how amazing. If you liked Kiss of Fire, you will adore Eyes of Ember. And if
you haven't read the series at all, you so have to read it. It's just brilliant.

THIS IS THE BEST F*$&%*N BOOK EVER!!!!!!! This is about Joclyn and Ilyan. Now i will say i sed to be Team Ryland all the way, but i was ignorant. Ilyan is the hottest, nicest, most powerful dude ever! Well it all starts out with Joclyn magic dying...Sorta. Anyhow SHE starts to die as her bond isnt severed but broken with large consequence. And since evil Ryland was the one to do it, SHE was the one dying. Well Ilyan is constantly healing her and then the find her cure. The Tu ha. Within it she heals if she stays in for at least 2hrs. Anyway Ilyan promises hell take her out, after she stops moping, if she can beat him in a battle or make him like three times. She, of course as a woman will, played dirty, and won. They go out and he byes her a Bracelet and they even go Salsa dancing! Wheeepaaa! Anywho they get attacked and i'll give you a direct quote i memorized.
" 'There are two brothers. Both love one girl. One may love her more than the other. One wants her for power, the other wants her for light. Guess who is who?' "
I love that quote. Then they even hide out in a house full of people which they call the Haunted House. Well they get ina battle AGAIN and they learn the Bond with Ryland only makes there situation more complex. Then Ilyan has to like teleport (Stutter) and goes into a 3 day coma. There, with her friends Thom and Draven or something, she learns what she is. The Silny or Most Powerful. But she also learns something even more sweet and sad. Her fate is intertwined with Ilyans in a way she never realized. She is his --- HAHAH!!!! I WILL NEVER TELL!!!!!!!

OMG! This Lady can write! I couldn't put the book down! But even her first one was fantastic! Kiss of Fire led me to this one and I just couldn't stop reading! There is something on every page to keep you turning the pages. I have now started the 3rd book and had to put it down only because my battery failed! LOL....and I need to do some Christmas cards...they are late because of these books, thank you very much, Rebecca! Seriously though, Rebecca is an amazing writer. This is such a wonderful series and I truly enjoy it without all the bad language and sex that plague so many books and TV shows now. Yep, I said it! LOL!

    a must read

I read the first in the series and after a slow start got rapt up in the story. This follows the characters and where they are going but still does not end it so you are compelled to get the next book but I have not one so as of yet.It is an interesting look into a girl who really does not know herself as well as she could and is learning to .
