Meet the Author

Fred Scaife’s purpose in writing this book is to first glorify God for the work He has accomplished in Bunia, and then to provide a model for others whom God may be calling to start an orphanage in another part of the world. Fred graduated with a bachelor of science degree from Rio Grande College in Ohio in 1952. He served in the air force for four years. His subsequent career in aerospace and the computer industry has taken him to work in many countries around the world. While he retired from Control Data in Minnesota in 1986, he performed consulting services until 1992, when he fully retired. He is one of the founders of Bunia Children’s Hope Center in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Africa. Fred, with three others, began the project in 2004. Today, the BCHC serves the needs of 700 orphans and 250 widows. Fred lives in Minnetonka, Minnesota, with his wife, Bonnie. He has a son, two daughters, and seven grandchildren.
