FROM THE BACK COVER:

Who am I?

My name is Christy Snow. I'm seventeen and I'm about to die.

I'm buried in a coffin under tons of concrete. No one knows where I am. My heart sounds like a monster with clobber feet, running straight toward me. I'm lying on my back, soaked with sweat from the hair on my head to the soles of my feet. My hands and feet won't stop shaking.

Some will say that I m not really here. Some will say I'm delusional. Some will say that I don t even exist. But who are they? I'm the one buried in a grave.

My name is Christy Snow. I'm seventeen. I'm about to die.

So who are you?

In a return to the kind of storytelling that made Black, Showdown and Three unforgettable, Ted Dekker drags that question into the light with this modern day parable about how we see ourselves.

Humming with intensity and blindsided twists, Eyes Wide Open is raw adrenaline from the first page to the last pure escapism packed with inescapable truth. Not all is as it seems. Or is it? Strap yourself in for the ride of your life. Literally.

What an AMAZING ride Ted Dekker takes you on with Eyes Wide Open

What an AMAZING ride Ted Dekker takes you on with Eyes Wide Open (or the shorts-Identity, Mirrors, Unseen, and Seer)!! It was great for me, and personally  hit me hard in the center--my heart. I am often like Christy and see myself as ugly (not fat but ugly). We all have things we hate about ourselves...it takes us Opening Our Eyes to see us as He sees as. As we truly are. Beautiful. Loved.

    My review:

If I thought I would enjoy this book, I was wrong. I loved it. I had to put it down about a million times, telling my family I couldn't figure out if they were crazy, if I was crazy. Such a thrilling book, and yet you can't help but see the meaning behind it. Dekker does an excellent job. I haven't ever read anything by him, but I was so surprised by the twists and turns in this book I quickly came to see why so many people love his books.

I couldn't tell one way or the other if they were really crazy and to me that is an excellent book! The way he wove Christ in, and what is perception vs reality was amazing. What we have the power to change. This book will stay with you for a LONG time. Highly recommended!

I was provided a copy from the publisher in exchange for my honest opinion.

I enjoy reading Ted Dekker's work so much. It is both complex and thought provoking and at the same time simple and entertaining. In his newest work Eyes Wide Open he has returned to his classic style that we all enjoyed in THR3E and House.

Eyes Wide Open is the complete book that was also released as a four ebook episodic serial series. The story begins with book one which is entitled Identity. In this episode Mr. Dekker takes one of our worst fears, being trapped with no way out, and brings it to life with Christy Snow.

Just like Alice in  Alice in Wonderland, Christy falls into a hole and winds up in a world that doesn't make sense to her. Before long her friend Austin arrives to save her only to find himself trapped in the same situation. During their confinement they are forced to look within themselves and confront some of their deepest held beliefs.

By the time the story gets to book four Christy and Austin begin to lose hope that their situation will ever change. But just when all seems lost the story turns and takes on a whole new dimension. A new character named Outlaw comes upon the scene and presents Christy and Austin a way out. The question then becomes will they have the ability to take that path? Will they be able to "see" what is in front of them and decide what is real and what is perceived?

Eyes Wide Open is told in an allegorical style that you can enjoy on multiple levels. You can choose to just be terrified and entertained with the story that is presented on the page. Or you can also choose to look deeper and see the spiritual aspects that are presented. I preferred the later. I enjoyed delving into the way we look at and perceive our surroundings. When I closed the book I found myself praying that the Lord would continually remind me to keep my EYES WIDE OPEN and use the lamps that He gave me to truly see what is there.

I received a copy of this book to facilitate my review.

    Incredible

Being a Publicist and a Beta reader, I read hundreds of books by hundreds of authors on a daily basis.
Yet, no matter how good the book and it's plot are, I never seem to find that delightful flavor that comes with a passionate writer whose ambition is to make a difference.
I have found that flavor with Ted Dekker, and I fall in love with every book Dekker writes.
Eyes Wide Open was a true pleasure to read, I enjoy a book that challenges me as well as has provides a divine point, Dekker nailed it.

    PLEASANTLY SURPRISED!

Ted Dekker is masterful at pulling me into his stories. This author is great at his craft. This series of books is very intriguing. To top it off Ted Dekker is unafraid to share his Christian faith in books that promise just as much suspense as any other popular books of our time. Finally Christian fiction that can entertain without compromising spiritual awareness. I will read as many Ted Dekker books as I can find. Thank you Mr. Dekker.

A fellow believer in Jesus Christ!

    Usually love Dekker

I have enjoyed many Dekker novels - especially The Circle series. I was enjoying this book until the last 100 pages. Upon completion I wished I had never wasted my time. What a let down of an ending. I imagine it appeals to those who want to spin a religious message into everything whether it works or not. In this case, it didn't and I was terribly disappointed.

    Fastest book ive read!

I loved this book! I'm a huge fan of Ted's and of all of his books that I've read, which is almost all of them, this one I read in 2 days! Compared to like a week. This book hit me the most, because like every woman I'm not exactly happy with my physical appearance or think a man could think I'm pretty and fall in love with me. But to hear the message that God sees us are perfect and beautiful as we are really hit me. I defaintly needed to read this and was happy this was the message and that it would relate to a lot of women because almost every woman views themselves as ugly or over weight or unhappy at some point in their life. I'm so excited to read Outlaw next and the rest of the chronicals. Thanks Ted! :)

Eyes Wide Open is a thriller about Christy and  Austin. These two teens find themselves stuck in a psych ward accidentally.
I thought this book had a Stephen King "flavor" to it. I was rather confused with the story in the beginning but by the end I understood everything. I thought it had a good message of being true to yourself.
I think my teenage nephews would like this book. I plan on to recommending it to them.
I recommend it to thriller fans including teenagers. 4 stars

Ted Dekker in his new book, “Eyes Wide Open” Book One in The Outlaw Chronicles published by Worthy Publishing takes us into the life of Christy Snow.

From the back cover:  Who am I?
My name is Christy Snow.I’m seventeen and I’m about to die.

I’m buried in a coffin under tons of concrete. No one knows where I am. My heart sounds like a monster with clobber feet, running straight toward me. I’m lying on my back, soaked with sweat from the hair on my head to the soles of my feet. My hands and feet won’t stop shaking.

    So who are you?

How can you define “fear”?  Hand people a copy of “Eyes Wide Open”.  Ted Dekker explores every avenue of fear that he could, trapped in tight coffin-like places, trapped in a bunker with no cell phone, no one knows where you are and no means of escape.  Then what happens when you wind up in a mental institution and everyone thinks you are a patient and after a while you begin to believe so yourself.  ”Eyes Wide Open” is a wild ride that will question sanity and self-esteem.   Like Pilate asked, “what is truth?” you will be asking as well and will be glad when you find out.

What can ya say about Ted Dekker? He's weird. I'll give ya that. "Eyes Wide Open" is the newest of Dekker's novels. It's about a girl who has amnesia and a boy who also has amnesia. They break into a mental institution through a tunnel. Then they become patients. Or do they? This book is written in a reading level similar to a Young Adult novel. He twists and turns. Who am she? Where is she? Did she ever leave the tunnel. What is a delusion and what is real? How do you know? Can you know? This book is weird. But what are you thinking about at night while trying to get to sleep? This book. It never leaves your mind! It creeps me out! I am confused and yet I love it! I received this book for free from Worthy Publishing.

4 STARS This is the first book that I have read by Ted Dekke

    4 STARS

This is the first book that I have read by Ted Dekker. It started right off into a story grabbing my attention. I thought the book was going to go a different way. I was wrong. You never know where it is going to go. It has some deep discussions about sane or in sane. Is someone delusional or in reality.

Sometimes I was so mixed up and trying to understand where the story was going. Who was right or good guys or bad guys. This has many layers to the story. Their are a lot of twists and turns to the story.

The characters are interesting. Christy is 17 and alone in the world. She has no memory before the age of 13. Right away you feel for her. I would hate being so alone in the world.

Austin is a very smart guy. He is taking classes at Harvard. He too has no memory of his childhood. He suffers with major headaches.
He wants to help Christy when he gets her message that she was trapped. They were drawn to each other because they both had no memories about their younger years.

I think Eyes Wide Open was released first as 4 books. To me I only see one book. It would have really been confused reading each part of the book alone and waiting for the next part.
I would be interested in reading more from Ted Dekker in the future.

It definitely made me use my brain to read this book and understand where it was going.

I was given this book by Worthy Publishing and Netgalley ebook. In return I agreed to give honest review of book and be part of its blog tour.

    Not impressed...anticlimactic

This was the first books i have read from Ted Dekker. He come highly recommended by my friends, so I had high hopes. (however, none of them had read these books so I started here - it was a BN Sale is the reason I bought them) It started out really good and intriguing...then it slowed down and by the end i was frustrated. The book was anticlimactic.
