Author Biography: Julia and Derek Parker are established leaders in the field of astrology. They combined their skills in 1971 with the publication of The Complete Astrologer, which became a worldwide bestseller. This was followed by more than 40 books, written singly or in collaboration, including the highly successful Parkers' Astrology. The Parkers also broadcast and lecture throughout Europe, Australia, Canada, and the United States.

Eric Francis came to astrology through two very different worlds: A Course in Miracles and ecological investigative journalism. His work has appeared in The Village Voice, Sierra Magazine, The New York Times, The Mountain Astrologer, and other periodicals. He is a personal growth and astrology columnist for America Online.

Editorial Reviews

From Barnes & Noble
Bookseller ReviewsK.I.S.S. is the name of the series: Keep It Simple Guides. And if this stellar introduction is representative, this new D.K. line will flourish. Using an attractive variant of the much-loved D.K. format, Astrology: K.I.S.S. presents the rudiments of astrological philosophy, the characteristics of each sign, and the basics of preparing your own birth chart and horoscope. Inviting foreplay.
Library Journal
Just being introduced now, DK's new "Keep It Simple" guides are aimed at the "Dummies" and "Idiots" market. With this book by astrology experts Julia (The Astrologer's Handbook) and Derek (Dreaming: Remembering, Interpreting, Benefiting) Parker, it has a sure winner. Excellent all around, the book is easy to use, contains accurate information, and features great illustrations. It is simple enough for beginners yet packed with information so that intermediate students of astrology will return to it as a reference tool. The authors introduce a quick, easy, innovative way to draw a birth chart that will satisfy any beginner who may have been stymied by the many calculations needed in traditional chart making. Their descriptions of the signs and planets, using ancient myths associated with each, make this sometimes overwhelming subject clear. Their style has a way of helping readers remember the nuances necessary for accurate chart interpretation. This book will get a lot of use in any public library, even those that already own Parker's Astrology (DK, 1994). Highly, highly recommended.--Marija Sanderling, Rochester P.L., NH Copyright 2000 Cahners Business Information.
