Just the book kids need for a quick reference.
Book Report
This visual book has many facts packed into its pages. The lists are grouped according to subject area: space, life on earth, world beliefs, science, countries, people, industry, crime and war, the arts, world sports, and ultimate lists, which includes events of the 20th-century. The difference in this list book is that the lists are of facts not opinions. The author used reference books, CD-ROM, and the Internet as well as official sources, such as the United Nations and sport governing bodies, to compile his lists. A band of color at its beginning identifies each list. Identified by a large exclamation point, "Did You Know?"

Children's Literature - Christopher Moning
Would you like to see a list of famous scientists? How about the natural wonders of the world? Famous Dwarfs? Grisly execution methods? Largest paintings? Super Bowl Champions? Top Disaster Films? This compilation has something for everyone. Along with photographs, charts, and drawings, you will find lists pertaining to just about anything you can imagine-and a few things you never would have dreamed of. Each page is topped with a "Did you know?" fact, such as "Did you know in Ancient Egypt, anyone who killed a cat was usually executed?" Take this book along on that next family vacation. It will make the long ride go a lot faster.
School Library Journal - School Library Journal
Gr 5 Up-A delightful smorgasbord of fantastic facts, from the essential to the bizarre, organized into 12 subject areas such as "Space," "The Earth," "Science," "Countries," "The Arts," and "World Sports." Demonstrating the publisher's customary flair for neatly compartmentalized information tidbits and striking use of illustration and typography, this title resembles the author's annual The Top Ten of Everything (DK) in style and format. Many of the lists are ideal for quick reference queries: the five kingdoms, measurement conversions, countries and continent facts, body systems, highest mountains, and longest rivers. Other lists are more esoteric, to say the least: "Giant Frog Recipes" or "Grisly Execution Methods." Pages are headed with colored bands, include "Did You Know?" trivia facts, and are punctuated with numerous high-quality color illustrations. Lists are organized in neat columns with succinct headings. The index is not very detailed, but suffices in identifying key subjects. A fun, visually appealing, and informative title.-Mary Ann Carcich, Brooklyn Public Library, NY Copyright 1999 Cahners Business Information.
