Faery Lands of the South Seasby James Norman Hall, Charles Bernard Nordhoff
Charles Bernard Nordhoff and James Norman Hall came out to the Pacific shortly after World War I, and proceeded to thrill more readers than anyone else who ever wrote about it, including James Michener. They fell in love with the area, and in 1921 they produced Faery Lands of the South Seas, an almost forgotten book about their first experiences in French Polynesia.
