Meet the Author

Charles Perrault (1628–1703), a lawyer and member of the French Academy, attained immortality with his 1697 publication of Tales of Mother Goose, a new and skillful treatment of traditional folklore that served as inspiration for the Brothers Grimm.
A leading figure in the Irish Arts and Crafts Movement, Harry Clarke (1889–1931) began his career as an award-winning stained glass artist. In a style that recalls Aubrey Beardsley and Kay Nielsen, he illustrated the works of Hans Christian Andersen, Poe, Goethe, and others.
