More About This Book

Overview

This is the story of how one man found God's purpose for his life through personal tribulations.
Nelson Thomas had been a United States Air
Force Firefighter for ten years. During that time he had experienced many different depictions of tragedy. But nothing could have prepared him for what was to come. In 2006, Nelson began to experience an overwhelming sum of unfortunate events that would shake his already frail foundation. From the tragic loss of his mother to suicide and insurmountable depression after the fact, to losing a friend and colleague at work, Nelson experienced his own personal form of hell on earth. But what he could not see through all the pain and heartache was the fact that God was sculpting the purpose for his life right in front of him. By embracing the insanity which had become his life Nelson realized that all things are possible through
God alone. This is a true story of triumph over tragedy, and finding
God on his terms.

Faith by Fire was an eye opening read! The author held back nothing; the honesty of his writing was both refreshing and frightening. He opens his heart and mind fully to allow the reader a true view of the pain and suffering he endured in hopes to help others.

I received Faith by Fire yesterday and at about 6pm, thought I'd just peruse it for a bit. At 11:00 pm, I finished it. Wow.  The word pictures that Thomas paints are so vivid and full of emotion, I felt like I was living inside his head. I cried the whole way through it.  My heart broke for Nelson and for Natalie; lesser women would have bailed long ago.  I pray that God blesses them with every good and righteous blessing ever bestowed upon man.  I pray Nelson's demons are quieted and forever subdued.  I don't believe I've ever read a current author that paints a clearer picture of the widespread impact of sinful choices.  Perhaps, it impacted me so profoundly because I perceived Nelson and Natalie as family, but I rather think it is because Nelson has truly found and used his gift and his purpose.
