About the Author

Dr. Gardner C. Taylor, co-founder of the Progressive National Baptist Convention with Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., has been called one of the best preachers in America and one of 12 greatest preachers in the English-speaking world by Newsweek. At age 30, he became the pastor of Concord Baptist Church—and nearly 13,000 people joined during his tenure. Dr. Taylor has preached around the globe, holds over 100 honorary degrees and countless awards, and has taught at the country’s most esteemed institutions and divinity schools. Leadership, Christian Century, Time, Newsweek, Christianity Today, The New York Times, Newsday, and Ebony have recognized his contributions. In 2000, Dr. Taylor received the Presidential Medal of Freedom, presented by President William Jefferson Clinton.
