Kyra Sanders had a promising career in country music in her teen years. She gained popularity and fame, riding high atop the  charts. Then one deadly accident changed things, sending her spiraling downward to the point she went into a hiatus from music.

Six years later, Kyra's making her return to the music scene. With an album in the works and a new song on the radio, her career is back on track, until a call from Texas with news of an accident forces her to halt her plans.

Matt Greer is working through the aftermath of his ex-wife's abandonment when she chose to leave him and their fourteen year old son to pursue her own musical dreams. He's had enough of troubled musicians and the havoc they bring to his life Kyra surprises him in a good way, but it doesn't mean he wants anything to do with a singer who comes to town with trouble on her trail.

It's hard to avoid each other in a small town, especially when their families are close. Matt should stay away from the woman who could lead danger right to their town, and it's possible she already has, but he can't help how drawn he becomes to her.

The sparks ignite, but danger lurks in the distance, only getting closer as time goes on. For two people who want different things out of life, it's possible to find healing together...

Author Nikki Lynn Barrett weaves an entertaining tale that follows the story of country music star Kyra Sanders and single dad Matt Greer. Kyra Sanders was a promising teen country music star, whose career was derailed when she was involved in a traumatic fatal accident. Six years later, she is trying to make a come back, when another accident occurs that sends her back home to Texas. Matt Greer is a single father who is trying to pick up the pieces of his and fourteen year old son Andrew's life after his wife abandons them to chase her dreams in the music industry. Kyra and Matt meet by chance, both have issues to overcome: her past keeps haunting her, while he has trouble dealing with past hurts and a mistrust of musicians; but in a small town it is hard to avoid one another, it has a way of bringing them together, even when danger lurks around the corner. Can Kyra and Matt put their troubles in the past and find love and happiness? Fallen Idol is a fast paced and exciting romantic tale with a country music twist. It has just the right mixture of romance, emotion, drama, family dynamic, mystery, and intriguing twists and turns that will easily captivate the reader and keep them guessing. You can't help but feel for Kyra and Matt as they face the challenges in their lives, and with the added threat of danger thrown into the mix, the reader is taken on an emotional journey as opposites attract and sparks ignite between Kyra and Matt, bringing them together with the hope that their blossoming relationship can help each other heal. As a country music fan, I thoroughly enjoyed the romance, drama, intrigue, and the incorporation of country music references that is intertwined within this good old fashion second time around romance story. Fallen Idol is the fourth book in the Love and Music in Texas Series, but can be a stand alone read. Disclaimer: I received a copy of the book from the author in exchange for my honest review.

Nikki Lynn Barrett knows how to write a story that will keep you captivated the whole way through! Kyra is trying to rebuild her career, while trying to escape something. Matt is trying to stay away from musicians because of what happened to him in his past. Kyra and Matt meet by chance. They both have their own issues to deal with, but keep finding themselves thrown together in this small town. Can they work through their own problems and find love, peace, and happiness? I really enjoyed reading this book, and look forward to more of this author's books. A must-read!
